I can try to scan the picture. It is about 8 x 12 and cracked from being rolled up for so many years. No names on the photo, just the entire class standing on the steps of a large building. Later today I will try to scan the picture into my machinge. Need to save it anyway. We'll see what happens.

I tried to Email you directly but it keeps bouncing. Anyway.... You have really piqued my interest concerning this photo of your moms business school. My granny learned typing and short hand at the school she went to just like your mom. I was wondering, could you possibly scan the picture and send it to me as an attachment? That way I could see if my granny was in it or not. Who knows, these two ladies may have been class mates! Please email me direct. In any event thanks soooooo much for your help with this matter and I hope you have had a wonderful Easter. Carl Hawthorne, Florida

One Red River lister suggested it may have been Draughan's Business School. Maybe these schools all blended together to form the Junior college in Paris. 1921 is very possibly the right time frame for my granny to be at the school. I wonder if she is in the picture you spoke of? Anyway, thanks soooooo much. Carl

Later on I think that the commerical college became Paris Junior College. The only things I have from that era is the graduation picture of the entire class and my Mother's shorthand book.

My Granny, Fina Newsome, b. 1890, Robinsville, Red River, Texas, attended a secretary's school in Paris around 1915. I think a lot of girls from the Detroit, Bagwell, Blossom area went there. The school may have had a broader curriculum but all I know is Granny went there to learn to be a secretary. I once saw a photo of the inside of the class room and it seemed to be all women but the school may have catered to men as well (a business college?). In the photo, it seemed as though the school was in a upstairs room, maybe in the second story of a business(?). Does anyone remember or know of such a school? How would I find out about this school? Thanks sooooooo much in advance, Carl

The cemetery is located west of Maxey in pasture on private land behind a gate that has a posted "No Trespassing" sign now. The small newspaper clipping that you have is all that was probably ever printed. Obituaries in the 1890s are not what we have today. In addition, there are no newspaper archives for Lamar County newspapers before 1916, when the fire burned most of the city.

Hi. Is there anyone close enough to Paris to get an obituary for me?? The one I need is for Minnie Thomas Loveless, but I don't have a death date for her. Her husband was Paul Loveless, who died May 22, 1991 in Paris and is buried in East Post Oak. Minnie died there, too, and is also buried in East Post Oak. So, I guess I really need two obits. Paul Loveless and Minnie Thomas Loveless. Email would be great, copy and paste works. I just need to know who her parents were and her death date....................... Can anyone please help? Thanks, Carlette [email protected] Carlette
