    3. One resource is the book written by Jack H. Goins "Melungeons: and Other Pioneer Families." It will depend on what area of the country you are searching, as other authors have written about other areas. This is the Melungeons of Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. There are several groups of Melungeoons. His book deals with the extended pioneer families of Goins, Minor, Bledsoe, Fisher, Hurd, Wallen, Johnson, Riddle, Rogers, Lawson, Reed, Vanzant, Arrington, England and Sizemore. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, June 22, 2005 3:26 PM Subject: [TXLAMAR] Re: A MESS' AGE FUM YO "BLACK SHEEP":) > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YlB.2ACI/1696.2 > > Message Board Post: > > Can you recommend any resources for Melungeon acestry? > > > ==== TXLAMAR Mailing List ==== > Lamar Co., TX USGenWeb Archives: > http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/lamar/lamartoc.htm > > ============================== > Search the US Census Collection. Emily married a Robert Brocchus from Tennessee who joined a Confederate unti made up of Lamar County people. He was killed in 1864 and after 1865 Emily disappears from Dallas, as does her brother John. Before 1880 a John Thompson marries Amanda Ringo in Grayson County, but John is apparently dead by 1880. There are so many John Thompsons in the area it's hard to know who's who. Any help would be appreciated.
