    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Estes. Thomas, Deatherage Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FkB.2ACE/1612.1.1 Message Board Post: Diane, There is likely a connection of friendship between the Estes family and the Thomas family back in Thomasville, Missouri. Ridley B. Thomas came from there down into Texas. He was a wealthy farmer had many chidren from his first wife. During the time period between his first wife (Susan) and his second wife (Isabella) he might have had a child by one of his slaves one that was born and indicated as a mulato. There is also a srong connection between the Thomas and Deatherage lines. Plus connections to the Huddlestun (Huddleston) line. Like you I want to know exactly why Ridley took the two Estes boys in. I believe there were younger Estes children? What happened to them? I will place a phone call tonight to an older Thomas relative that might just know the story concerning the Estes boys. I will send you images of the Bible records this evening, maybe this afternoon.

    3. The Thomas Family and a lot of their descendants were known for taking in homeless children, including my grandmother, Mary Etta (Guthrie) Holley. I'm skeptical about the slave connection...will look into that.
