My grandmother, who was her daughter, talked about her a lot. She said Edna was the daughter of Laura Wright and Simon Jeffries? They were separated or divorced, and Laura ran a boarding house near Houston. She thought that it was no place to raise a little girl so sent her to Sacred Heart Convent in Waco. I have Edna's autograph book from the convent--dates are 1880's. Dr. Bullock and family took her in, and she began going by their surname. Then I later learned that Simon's last name may have been Bullock, not Jeffries. I remember hearing about "Grandpa Hilburn" and even have a picture of him but don't know how he fit in. Can you enlighten me?
