    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FkB.2ACE/1058.1 Message Board Post: Do you know where they went in AL? My Willet (sometimes spelled Wilhoite) family went from Chatham Co., N.C. to Williamson Co., TN, abt. 1802. Children of Mary "Polly" Tatom Willet had been given 500 acres along with West Harpeth River in her father's will. Her husband William Willet was a hat maker. There are several references to them in the Loose Records of Willamson Co. Apparently, William Willet had financial problems and a slave given to Mary by her father was taken on a couple of occassions for his debts. A James Terrell on at least 2 of these times travel to Nashville to see that this property was returned to Mary. In one record he was quoted as saying that he intended Mary to have what was rightfully hers. James Terrell died abt 1820. One of the Willet children was named James Terrell Willet. When the children come of age the land is divided among them and sold. Census of 1850 finds Mary a widow and in Marion Co., AL, in the home of her son Absalom Tatom Wi! llet. A.T.Willet and wife Lucinda Franks are in Marion Co. by 1832 when their oldest child was born. Their youngest child was named George (don't know of a Georgie). They had a Hats store in Pikeville, county seat of Marion Co., AL. Judge John D. Terrell, Sr. had come to Marion Co. as Territorial Judge in 1818. His son was Probate Judge by 1850 census until 1885. My George W. Terrell,Sr. (brother of John,Sr.) came in 1820s to Pikeville. I know this Willet family had a long relationship with the Terrell family in Marion Co. I descend from from both families and will be glad to share what I have if you think you may connect.
