D: 1 Feb 1864, B: McMahan Cove Stevenson Jackson Co, AL, his wife Nancy Reed, B: 1786,D; 15 Nov 1858, Sander's father:Archibald "Redmond" McMahan, B; 1731, Ireland, his parents believed to be: John McMahan and Catharine Cole, Place of Death ?Augusta Co, VA We are very interested completing as much as possible the complete family history of Archibald McMahan and his brothers. Presently our history is in 5- 3.5 post type binders by generations wwith family group sheets and back-up. Did you know there is in Co Clare, Ireland as small town named McMahan. Lastly at the LA-TX border in Sabine Co, there is located McMahan's Chapel, established as the first Methodist Church in Texas in 1833. It is located on what was the 300 acre farm of Col Samuel Doak McMahan.In 1833 the TX-LA border was the U.S.-Mexico border and the present day Rte 21 in TX and Rte 6 in LA from Natchez Ms,was the route by most of the early settlers including Sam Houston entered Texas initially. Rte 21 then was known as The El Camino Real Trail or " King's higway in spainish. We are presently researching Samul Doak McMahan, his family and their connection to our McMahan's of AL ,TN &VA.
