    1. [TXKAUFMA-L] Newspaper Account of Crime Committed (1876-80) Llano or Lampasas Co TX
    2. John & Elnora Wyrick
    3. Is there anyone that has access to Newspapers for Llano and Lampasas Counties, 1876-1880 that can shed some light on the below information; Robert (?B) McBee b: 1850 in Kaufman Co., Texas d: 31 August 1880, Huntsville, Walker Co., TX, he married Mrs Mahalia (Morris) Jay on 01 November 1868 in Van Zandt Co., TX. She was born Abt. 1844 in (Possibly) Louisiana. She married #1. C.P. Jay, 1863 in Cherokee Co., TX. and she married #3. J.W. Powell on 28 Oct 1880. Bosque Co., TX, 1880 Census Place: Texas State Prison in Huntsville, Walker Co., TX Bob MC BEE, ( Single, White, Male, age 30), Prisoner, Laborer, born TX Convict number: 8719; Name: Bob McBee; County: Lampasas His crime appears to be "Assault to Murder". The handwriting is rather difficult to read. I checked the distribution of offenses in the Biennial Report of the Texas State Penitentiary for 1880-1882, and this seems to be the closest match. There also seems to be two counts of this offense. His sentence was four years, of which he served about three months, as he was killed while trying to escape. Date of conviction as 19 May 1880, his residence had been in Llano Co., arrived in Huntsville on 27 May 1880 and date of death during an attempt to escape on August 31, 1880. Looks like he possibly committed the crime/crimes in Lampasas Co., but was living in Llano Co., TX or (vise/versa). Sentence was for 4 years, may have committed 2 "Assaults to Murder", as the sentence reads (2 and 2 yrs), Release date was to have been 19 May 1884. His physical description reads, age 30, 5-1/2 ft, weight as 135lbs, complexion as Dark, eyes as Blue, hair as Brown, no physical marks, use of Tobacco as yes, habits as (Intemperate) or in other words heavy drinker. I would like to know who he assaulted and where, Llano or Lampasas Co. and of course any additional information that may be posted in an article. I would appreciate any information on this information. Thanks, Elnora Frances Cook-Wyrick
