Dear LHA, Don't know if this will prove helpful to you or not, but thought I would share my story. Family history had it that my g-grandfather, John Hanks, had died in 1900 in Rusk State Hospital after he had been committed following brain injury due to a kick in the head by a horse. I wrote to them for records and they wrote back saying they had no such patient ever listed. I was perplexed for years, then finally, just a month or so ago, got info from another relative in the form of letters from Terrell State Hospital for the Insane written to my g-grandmother. It turns out that the family stories were right, just had the wrong hospital. It had never occurred to me that he might have been institutionalized somewhere else. Anyway, the moral here is that there was more than one mental institution. You might want to try others to see if they have her listed. ----- Original Message ----- From: "B.
