Memorial service: 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at Arlington Moose Lodge, 1325 E. Abrams. Born in Kaufman on Jan. 22, 1936, Jack lived out his life in Arlington and Grand Prairie. A Marine, he was awarded the National Defense Medal in 1954. In the mid-1950s, he won "Best Looking Man In Arlington" (see photo). On Feb. 23, 1960, Jack married Linda Peters of Arlington. A retired truck driver of 50 years, he cherished times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. Jack will be deeply missed, yet his memory kept alive for those loved ones still to come. In his own words, "Don't say goodbye, just say so long." Until we meet again, sleep in heavenly peace. We'll be seeing ya'. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Lyde Moore and Mervel Moore. Survivors: His wife, Linda; daughters, Donna Sowers and husband, Ricky, Rae Lynn Greenwood-Staley and husband, Bill, Tracie Ward, Jo Layne York-Harrison and husband, Bruce, and Tammy Ward; sons, Richard Ward and Cody Ward and wife, Shannon; granddaughters, Dawn, Shannon, Robyn Sowers, Mary Greenwood, Whitney and Erica Staley, Jackie Faram, Brandi and Mandi York, Megan and Destinee Harrison, Coley and Celsey Ward, and Kelli and Jordon Ward; grandsons, Monty Greenwood, Cody and Jesse Ward and Jason York; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Horace Ward and wife, Sylveen; and sister, DeVurle Autrey and husband, Kenneth.
