My father (Tommie Guy Pemberton) was the son of Albert Sidney Pemberton. A.S. Pemberton died at home in the 1940s at Poetry (Kaufman County). He is buried at the Camp Ground Cemetary in Poetry. All the files for this cemetary were lost in the 50s when there was a church fire. This information is from Sadie White the local historian for the Camp Ground Cemetary. I last spoke to Ms. White in the early 90s. I am not sure she is still living. There is a Gideon Pemberton and also a Caroline Pemberton buried at this cemetary. Gideon may be the brother of A.S. and Caroline Gideon's wife. On the death certificate for A.S. his wife Bessie was the informant. She listed him as an orphan. I do know Albert Sidney was one of four children, I do not know his parents names. His sister Alice Pemberton Chaney (not sure of the spelling on her married name) was married to Will Chaney and they had no children. She died sometime in the early 1950s and is buried at Dry Creek Cemetary! in Poetry. Will Pemberton a brother of A.S. was married first to Queen Pemberton and they had no children. After Queen's death sometime before the 1950s, Will Pemberton married Bessie, either Marsh or Yates was her maiden name. They also lived at Poetry and Will Pemberton died in the mid-1950s. He is also buried at Dry Creek Cemetary. I do not know who the other sibling is for Albert Sidney but I heard the name Gideon mentioned as a relative. I will be in that area in early September and will try to go by the Camp Ground Cemetary and get dates for you. The Dry Creek Cemetary has been vandalized and the old headstones broken and destroyed. I vaguely remember Ms. White mentioning the records for the Dry Creek Cemetary were also destroyed in the fire at the Camp Ground Church.
