My great grandfather was also named John A McKeller born 19 Feb 1839 AL. I still have not found out what the A stands for. I believe it to be Archibald or Abram. My great great grandfather Neill Mckeller was born some where between 1787 to 1800 in NC. In the 1840 census he was between the ages of 40 and 50. His ages on the 1850 census was 63 and and on the 1860 census was 64. So there is a good possibility that your John A and my Neill were brothers. My Neill married Sarah McInnis 5 Jan 1826 in Richmond Co NC. Most of my research on the McInnis family points to Richmond county so at some time the McKellers were there. I have some information on the McKellers in NC and would be willing to send it if you think it might help you. I think the more I try to figure it out the more confused I become.
