She was born 1 April 1869 to Joshua Nichols and Ethelinda California Fuller. Her mother died four months later. Her father remarried to Mary Durrett, Ethelinda's niece. There were five children from the first marriage and five from the second. Ola's name is Ethelinda O Nichols. I believe the O stands for Oklahoma. She has been called Ollie and Ola. She first married Willis Van Bass who died about 1906 and is buried in Nacogdoches. She had three children by him: Lessie Corene, Willis Van Jr., and Lucy Margaret. Lessie married Charley Alexander Baker and divorced him. Her dates are 5 aug 1904 to 18 Apr 1970. She had five children. Lucy married Marvin Sisson Richardson. Her dates are 6 Jan 1903 to 8 Jan 1968. She had two children. Willis Van Bass married Lucy Marinda Baker. His dates are 11 Jan 1906 to 4 Apr 1948. He had four children. Ola then married Henry Gamblin on 15 Nov 1908 in McLennan Co., Tx. They moved first to Dallas Co. where their daughter Willie Mae (my grandmother) was born on 16 Dec 1909. You will find the family on the 1910 Census in Dallas Co., TX. They then moved to Kaufman Co. Ola divorced Henry in 1918. I discovered he remarried in Longview area and talked to his son Jimmie, who told me his father claimed to have married 7 times and had 21 children. Ola was his 4th wife and Willie Mae was his 7th child. Willie Mae married Hugh Opal Dossett 22 Nov 1928 and had 5 children. Her dates are 16 Dec 1909 to 29 Oct 1964. Henry's dates are 5 Apr 1861 to 6 Feb 1935. He is buried in the city cemetery in Dallas Texas, located off of Harry Hines and Walnut Hill behind some buildings. The cemetery is no longer in use. I have been to his grave. Ola died 30 Nov 1961. She, her children, and several grandchildren are all buried in the Ables Springs cemetery together at the far back right corner of the cemetery from the front gates. There are many markers. She is known in my family as Ma Bass. If you have any questions please contact me. Thanks Barbara Dossett

Yours is not the only incorrect information in the Kaufman County History books. If I were you, I'd go with what I have and take the "history book" with a grain of salt. ----- Original Message ----- From: <knopfseesschoolcraft@gmail.com> To: <TXKAUFMA-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 18, 2006 5:17 AM Subject: [TXKAUFMA] Andrew Jackson Daugherty HELP! > This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. > > Classification: Query > > Message Board URL: > > http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FkB.2ACE/1630 > > Message Board Post: > > I hope someone here can help me with this. There was a school at Gray's Prairie at some point. The building has been a private residence for the past 50 years or so. It is a red brick, one story on the east side of the road. Was the Bill Cain that was principal a brother to Juanita "Shorty" (Cain) Reasonover? At least she had a brother named Bill. You might try emailing Abby Balderama at kaufmantxgenweb@packbell.net. She is the Kaufman County Coordinator of the Kaufman County Gen Web Project Site. She might be able to help you. You could also try the Kaufman County Library at www.kaufmancountylibrary.org. Their phone number is 972-932-6222. At one time there was also a Kaufman County Historical Society who could probably help you but I don't know how to contact them. I know there is still a Grays Prairie Community in Kaufman County on Hwy. 148, but I've never heard of a Junior High School there. However, that was probably before my time.
