Hello, Fellow Researchers, Does anyone know of FLEETWOODS who lived in Kaufman County? My g-g-grandfather, Jessie Snider (c. 1807-1869) was married to Mariah Fleetwood (c. 1813-1850). I have just begun researching my father's family. My father, Franklin Eugene MARTIN, was born in Kaufman County, TX, 22 November 1922, to Loyd G. & Ida Mary MARTIN. Ida's maiden name is MILLER. They were residing in Elmo at the time of his birth. His brothers were George, Marion Francis "Slim"(14 Dec 1917 - 5 Dec 1972), Loyd George, Edgar, Claude W., and Alvin; his only sister at the time was Ruby Lee (died 6 Jan 1997 in Graham, Young, TX). Another sister, Viola, was born 24 Dec 1924, although I do not know if she was born in Kaufman County. Claude W. Martin continued to live in Kaufman through approximately 1950; he had 4 children that I know of -- Billy Ray (b.1930), Annie Joe (b.1934), Florence (b. 1936), and Shirley (b. 1947). He may also have had a son named Claude Jr., born approximately 1928. Ida Mary and Ruby Lee eventually settled in Graham, Young, TX; Ida died 1948. George moved to Emory. Loyd George (L.G.), Edgar (Ed), and Claude W. eventually moved to Harris County, which is where they also died. Viola moved to Weatherford, Parker County, TX and died there in 1999. Alvin died during 1920's or 1930's, place unknown, under questionable circumstances. Franklin Eugene (Joe) eventually joined the Army after Ida's death and eventually settled in San Antonio after he retired from the Army ca. 1965. I will be in the Kaufman area 20 April 2001 through 23 April 2001; my husband will be one of the Civil War reenactors. While he returns to the 19th Century for the weekend, my brother and I plan to go back in time ourselves and do some research on our family. I would be interested in meeting with anyone who may have known these people or who may information about them; I am willing to share what information I have. Please contact me at [email protected] if you need further information or you think you might be of assistance. Thank you, Pamela MARTIN LIND
