There are no Death Certificates in Kaufman County prior to 1903, and even after then & until about 1905-1906, they are sparsely recoreded. Seems it took them awhile to catch on to the state Death Certificate ruling in Kaufman County... If you know what Church they belonged to you might inquire there. If they were Methodist, then SMU might be a good resource. If they were Baptist or Catholic or even Jewish, there are records for those entities, also, all available in Dallas. With death dates 1880-1890 your best bet is going to be obtaining copies of obituaries or death Notices from the newspapers for proof of death. I would like to try again to see if anyone might have any information about the Farmer Family that lived in the Forney area around 1900 - 1910. On February 24, 1910, one of the sons, Roy G. Farmer, burned to death in the City Hotel Fire. My grandfather, Milton Estill Powell also died in this fire. I would appreciate any information that anyone would want to share. Except for newspaper articles, I have been unable to find any information or photos that I can add to my family history. All my relatives who might have known are gone and I am struggling. Thank You in Advance, Ed Powell [email protected]

I would be happy to share what info I have about the Hall line.

My maiden name is Royka and I am looking for information on my father side of the family. My father's name is Charles Jerry Royka, born on March 20, 1919 in Terrell, Tx (Kaufman). His father's name was Frank Royka (possibly originally spelled Rojka) and his mother's name was Louisa Jane Hanselka (possibly originally spelled Hanzelka). I know that Frank immigrated to the United States from Bohemia in the early 1900s and died in either December 1918 or January 1919. Louisa died in the late 1950s or early 1960s. Frank and Louisa Royka had the following children: Frank Jr., Jane, Agnes, Julia, Helen and Charles (my father). I do not have any information on Frank's family. Louisa's parents were (I think) Henry and Jane Hanselka (Hanzelka). I do know that they had a very large family and Louisa was their oldest child. The only thing I know about the Hanselka children is that several of the girls married into the Kuban family. They also had an adopted or foster brother named Jerry Novak. As far as the mother, Jane Hanselka, her maiden name was Barta and I believe that her mother's name was Teresa Barta. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks to Kathy and all involved in the newly listed Fox Cem. on the TX GenWeb page. Your efforts have furthered my research in several cases. I am wondering, though, wasn't there an earlier enumeration of this cemetery? and, if so, what is its correct title, so I may cite it as a source. I have info from Kaufman Co. Library that states Walter Morgan was buried in Fox Cem and "a marker there reads 1865-1901. as per Fox Cem enumeration." And though I see Morgans listed (and know who they are) I did not find Walter. Probably the marker has crumbled since the first enumeration, so I really need the original enumeration to prove Walter Morgan is buried in Fox Cem. Thanks for any help. "Justin M. Sanders" wrote: > I don't believe that regiment had a company containing a large number of > Kaufman County men (although I'd be happy to stand corrected). Actually, I've been thinking of the best way to handle those men who either (1) lived in Kaufman County, but who served in a company raised mostly in some other county, or (2) served in the War but moved to Kaufman county later. The 2nd category is potentially a large one, and Kathey Hunt is preparing an entire book (or two) on the subject. On the other hand, the 1st category should be relatively small and something that I've already got some information on. So..... If you know of a soldier who was a resident of Kaufman county in the 1860-1865 period, but who served in a company that we *don't* have listed on the website, please send me the particulars (name, company/regiment, nature of the evidence (tombstone, pension, etc)). I'll add it to my info and give the file to Abby to put on the website. Justin M. Sanders "I shot an arrow into the air.
