Hello, Fellow Reserchers, Does anyone know of a marriage between Mrs. Eliza Snider (widow of Noah Snider) and a man named White? Noah Snider died in the Civil War and had six children. Don't know if Mr. White adopted them. Several Sniders moved from Panola to Kaufman, so the Whites might be there. Any help will be appreciated. Happy diggin'! Nancy
I have yet to be able to obtain any death records from Kaufman County or from the state for anyone that died in KC. I had two that I really needed from 1920 and 1936 that were not available. That's when I finally gave up. I was successful in using pictures of their tombstones and census to prove ancestory for my membership to First Families of Texas. Doris
I was wondering if someone could look up a Texas Birth for me......Her name is Flossie Johnson she was born in 1904, I would like to know who her parents were. In 1910 she was listed on the census, with my grandparents in Coal County, Oklahoma, as Adopted. Kind of confusing to me for all I know was my mother and her sister. no other children....... Thank you for your response. Jan in Oregon

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/FkB.2ACE/1108.2 Message Board Post: Briefly, no Kaufman county courthouse has burned down. The county has been fortunate that there has not been any significant loss of records since the county was created in 1848. There have been the usual loss of some pages, packets, and so on, but no wholesale loss like you find in counties where the courthouse burned and all records were destroyed. Now, it is possible that the doctor who delivered your father may have had a fire that destroyed his records before he had a chance to take them to the courthouse-- that might account for the absence of an original birth record. Hi, My dad was born in 1913 around Forney, and he didn't have a birth certificate. I helped him get a delayed birth certificate back in the 1960's, so maybe they weren't that diligent in reporting births back then. Have a great evening. Sharon Clark Fort Worth, TX [email protected]

Now a there was a fire in a federal building that destroyed many counties census records for the year 1890. If you get a chance to the page- www.rootsweb.com/~txkaufma It is Kaufman Counties Genealogy web page and has a lot of information about Kaufmans past, this is where the picture of the courthouse is.

Each Probate record is a different price. The Kaufman County Clerk's Office charges $9.00 for the first page & $1.00/Page for each following page. At the present time they will not send old records out as the basement of the courthouse was flooded in December & all the old records had to be moved to another site. This may last 3 - 5 months. Call the Clerk before ordering & they can tell you IF the record is retrievable at this time & how much you will need to send. 972-932-4331 Kathey in Kaufman ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Friday, March 01, 2002 10:15 PM Subject: [TXKAUFMA-L] Probate records > Hello, > > I have discovered that my ggg-grandfather, B.S.
