Surnames: Dozier Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FkB.2ACE/83.88 Message Board Post: David, My Doziers were in Kaufman Co. in the late 1800s. I am looking for any info on Andrew Jackson "Jack" Dozier (1860-1905) and his wife RoseAnna (/) Warren Dozier. She died between 1890 and 1905. He died 1905 and is buried in Smith County. She is believed to have been buried in Blackland Cemetery but she is not listed on the enumeration. However, Blackland Cemetery is abandoned, worse than deplorable and if not rescued will soon pass into oblivon. I recently took a number of photos that would disturb anyone. I would be willing to work on this cemetery but not sure who to contact in Kaufman Co. Any information you have on the Doziers or Warrens would be helpful. I know nothing of their parents, brothers or sisters. My grandmother Della Cora Dozier (Kirby) (1889-1983)was Jack and RoseAnna's daugther. Thanks for your help. Rex Kirby

If you are a direct descedant, I can take the line back several generations to Capt. Charles Williams of Pittsylvania Co., VA, a Rev. War soldier.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FkB.2ACE/1041.3.1.1 Message Board Post: The usual story regarding the name "Lively" was that the "dances were lively" or similar (as was mentioned in an early reply on this thread). An alternative was that the community was named in honor of the Lively family-- two of whom, at least, were ministers. If my memory is not completely fooling me, Lively had a post-office for a time, and I think I've seen the application for the postoffice-- the name Lively was a 2nd or 3rd choice I believe. Justin M. It was named after the Lively family I believe. There is a book at the library in Kaufman that tells about the different towns and how they got their names if you would like me to look it up for you. There is indeed a cemetery there also named the "Pyle Prairie Cemetery" with numerous graves. As far as I know there is one convenience store/gas station in the town. I live not far from there. Let me know if I can help you in anyway.
