    1. Beaumont book on-line
    2. Tom Cloud
    3. The book "The Story of Beaumont" is on-line in html (web page) format with an index and list of illustrations that were created for it (it had neither). Published in 1925/26, it is a valuable reference for early East Texas researchers. The index has the actual page numbers where the reference is found to make citations more precise. The table of contents can be found here: http://www.mykindred.com/wiess/st-o-b/index.htm It can be a lengthy download if on a dial-up connection, so it is also available without the graphics at: http://www.mykindred.com/wiess/st-o-b/toc-old.html There were numerous typographical errors and some grammatical errors. No corrections were made to the document. It is, so far as I can determine, true to the original. If you find an error or want to make a suggestion, please contact me at cloud@peaches.ph.utexas.edu. enjoy

My great grandfather was James Taylor SMITH b. in Louisiana 1827-28. He was married to Julia Ann STEPHENS-SMITH b. in VA., around 1833-34. They had 10 children and one of their daughters, Annie Laura (Laurie) SMITH, married a man by the name of George Crane, b. in British Columbia, Canada around 1881. Both my great grandparents lived with them in Mid-County and as far as I know James Taylor died in Louisiana, but Julia Ann died in Mid-County. George and Anna Laura's children were Lawrence J., Loyd L., Alson. and Mildred. I imagine that they are no longer living, but maybe some of their children or grandchildren will read this and want to get in touch with me. I am the daughter of Ellis (Bill) PORTER, and grand-daughter of Georgeanna SMITH/PORTER, sister to Anna Laura SMITH. You can also write me personally at Bonjovial12345@msn.com Linda {Porter} Bruce

Perhaps you may know something about the Choates that can help with the one I am looking for. He is a bit elusive (Aren't they all!?) but here is what I have: Descendants of ? Choate Generation No. 1 1. ?1 CHOATE He married MATTIE MAE WINTERS, daughter of THOMAS WINTERS and NORA MCINTYRE. She was born Abt. 1892. I wish I had more. But Mattie married a second time to James Madison Johnson. Their daughter Nellie Johnson was born September 08, 1911 in Noble, Sabine County, Louisiana. Do you have a CHOATE who married a Mattie? I have nothing on him or even where he was born, although I have suspected Louisiana. Thanks for any help you can offer. Sincerely, Linda
