I am looking for information about the location of the Lazarine league of land as described below. In 1835 Maria Felipe Lazarine recorded a deed of sale in Nacogdoches of his league and a labor of land in what later became Jefferson County. In 1860 P. H. Glaze and W. B. Kline bought the league (4428 acres) at a sheriff's sale to satisfy debts owed by C. W. Saladee. Glaze subsequently sold a portion of the league to Jas. McCarty who then sold it to Glaze's wife, Delia Glaze. The two Glazes sold some of the league to W. B. Kline in 1861. In all of the transactions the land is described only as the Lazarine League of land in Jefferson County. I will appreciate any information about the location of the land and/or about the transactions involving P. H. Glaze. Thanks, Ray Bland The Woodlands, Texas

I'll look more closely next time. I also looked at your email more closely and realized that you probably have the other information I found. I have the census records for 1880, 1900, 1910. If you do not have that information, I will be glad to send it. I presume that you have the marriage date of Archibald McLelland and Mary T. Sayer (Sawyer). They were married in Hunt County, Texas, Jan 9, 1873. Also, one thing I might point out. On the 1900 census for Hunt County, Texas, Ross McLellans birth is given as Nov 1885. He is 14 years old. This doesn't agree with the s. s. death record which gives Nov. 1889. I believe the census record is correct because of the birthdates of younger siblings. Let me know if you want the other information.

His wife's name was Mary Meyers (although they did not come over at the same time). This makes all the men born in the 1860s. I have been tracing this family as Jenny's sister, Sarah Martha Brown m. Edwin Henry Norton in Hamilton and I am tracing that line. I have marriage, birth and death info for Alfred, Jenny and their children Frank Henry and May Violet Chesher. Alfred Chesher, s. of Wm. John and Emma Chesher, was a machinist, b. Both were of Disciples faith (type of Baptist?) They had two children, Frank Henry. b. 11 July 1878 in Oshawa, Ontario and May Violet, b. 31 July 1880 also in Oshawa, Ontario. They moved to Brampton, Ontario, just west of Toronto. On 8 April 1882, Jane Chesher - at age 22 y. 3 mos. died in childbirth in Brampton, Peel County, Ontario Alfred Chesher married again - to Kate Earngy (spelling on Marriage Cert. in Brampton on 30 June 1885. Kate was born in Chinguacoucy, Peel County and her parents were Joseph and Mary Earngy. Both were Baptist and 27 years old. The Cheshers and Earngeys are listed on the 1881 Census (check www.familysearch.org) There was a son Delbert b. 12 June 1886 and then Reginald b. 10 Oct. 1887. I haven't checked for the girls. But from news announcement of a wedding - not dated - I have to recheck the Toronto Star - Gladys Mary married Gordon Albert Carl of Toronto. If you have any Brown information or info on Frank or May Violet Chesher, I would be pleased to receive it. Helen

I know my aunt and her husband, Lee and Zola Harrison, owned a cab company in Port Arthur that I believe is now the Port Arthur City Garage. I live in Mississippi and it is a little difficult to find out info. Would like any information anyone might have.

Their parents were Paul Franklin McLAIN and Jessie. Paul McLAIN died in 1989 I believe, living either in Beaumont or Pasadena, Harris Co., TX at the time of his death. I was born Audrey WILLIAMS in 1943 in Iowa, but grew up in Texas, often visiting my Arkansas McLAIN family. Paul McLAIN settled in Texas where I grew up. I think his children, born from 1940s, 50s I think--Montie (a girl) was the oldest I think--and the last child born was William David McLAIN-- may all have still been living in Beaumont until they married---probably married in the mid to late 1960s or into 70s or so. My husband and I were living/working overseas for more than 20 years and lost touch---though my parents went to Paul's funeral, Mother can't recall married names of the girls. Now I live in Tennessee and am finally tracking down family, doing genealogy. Any help appreciated.
