He was born in Louisiana in 1998 and died in Port Arthur, TX August 29,1928 in some kind of accident at the Texas Company. If you know how I could go about finding out what happened or how I could see the newspaper stories please let me know.

This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Coco Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/BkB.2ACE/863 Message Board Post: The "family story" is that Salvatore & his wife Guiseppina Coco were in front of their home in Beaumont (E. Buford St. or Orleans St.) when a lightening storm struck the metal-banded wheel of a passing wagon. The people in the wagon were hurt. The Cocos rushed to help them, were struck by lightening too, and died....on October 13, 1913. They left 2 small boys who were taken in by Salvatore's brother's family. S & G are buried in Magnolia Cemetery, which is where I got the date of death. The family was too poor to have afforded an obituary. What I am looking for is a news report in a Beaumont paper that may describe what ACTUALLY happened. I'd be happy for someone to just tell me that they found it and on what microfilm roll it appears. The microfilm rolls are kept at the public library downtown...just down the street from the genealogical library. I went to Beaumont in May but found out the date of death just after the library closed. I have not been able to go back. If you ! can also copy the article and send it to me, I would be happy to reimburse you for your expenses. I'm in Houston...I know, not so far from Beaumont, but I have not been able to get back and don't know when I will be able to. It broke my heart that I had the date but the library doors were locked when I returned from the cemetery. If I can reciprocate with a lookup in Houston TX, I will be happy to. Please respond here or email me at lsullivan@camh.org. Thanks, Lana Sullivan
