I did find a death record on a John McCullan, who died in 1905, but he was living in New Orleans. Guess that that couldn't be the same John Henry that we are looking for.

I have many more questions than answers...do you have anything on Louisa Mullins or Elizabeth Hamilton? Born July 11th, 1862 and died July 15th, 1947 at the age of 85 in Webster Parish, Louisiana. He married Emma G. Morris, Bienville Parish Louisiana. Children were: James McCullin, born Oct. 5, 1886 William Monroe McCullin, born Dec. 23, 1887 Annie Louisa McCullin, born Feb. 24, 1890 Mary Elizabeth, born Nov. 15, 1891 Otis Lenie McCullin, born Sept. 18, 1893 Julia McCullin, born Aug. 21, 1895 Merty Mary McCullin, born Sept. 26, 1897 Bula McCullin, born July 31, 1900 Cade Laton McCullin, born Jan. 8, 1903 Dona McCullin, born May 23, 1905 Ida Gertrude McCullin, born Aug. 28, 1906 George Harrison McCullin, born Feb. 7, 1909 Calvin Lee McCullin, born Dec. 26, 1912 Andrew Martin, born Oct. 31, 1913 1910 Census shows John Lewis McCullin living in Rapides Parish, LA., occupation nightwatchman. Do you know where John Henry lived when he passed away? My grandfather was William Monroe McCullin (listed above as child of John L. McCullin and Emma G. Morris McCullin.

Based on information that I collected a couple of years back from different people, this is what I have. This was collected from the 1880 Lincoln Parish census: John H McCullin, self employed farmer, married, 40, born in Ms. Louiesa McCullin ,Wife, 40, Born in Tn. John L. McCullin, son, single, 17, farm laborer born in La Henry R. McCullin, son, single 15, farm laborer born in La William McCullin, son, 13 farm laborer born in La Willis McCullin, son, 13 farm laborer born in La Elizabeth McCullin, mother of John H. age 77 Now, I have seen the father listed as John W and John Henry. I believe,but I am not positive, it is John H. Born 12/20/1839 believe in Ms. Married on9/29/1861. died 7/18/1897. His wife, Julia louiesa Mullins, b June of 1839 in Tn. Her father, Archibald Mullins, b 1805 in Ireland, and her mother Nancy Adkins b. in 1808 in Tn. Louiesa recieved a CSA pension on John, I have somewhere that he fought for the Louisiana Greys. Willis' grandparents were John J. McCullin married 10th of december 1818 in Amite county Ms. to Elizabeth Hamilton of South Carolina. (she is listed above as living with the family in the 1880 census). Willis married Annis Elizabeth Smith and they had 5 children. Walter b.oct. 1897 was my grandfather. based on the ages in the census,Will and Willis were twins. Send me some info on your people as I have nothing on Willis' brothers.

He was 89. He was born Feb.. 25, 1915, in Beaumont, Texas, the only child of Hilmer H. and Edna Horton Laude. He spent his childhood in Manhattan, Kan., and was a 1937 graduate of Kansas State University. From 1937 to 1939, he was a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. He earned his doctorate in botany at the University of Chicago in 1941. In 1946, after serving in the U.S. Army, he married Jane Gale and joined the UCD faculty. His teaching and research career spanned 35 years. He retired in 1981 and was honored by his alma mater with the Kansas State University Distinguished Service Award for that year. His widely published research included work on the physiology, ecology, adaptation and development of range plants and cereals. In 1964 he was a Rockefeller Foundation visiting professor in Chapingo, Mexico, and in 1968 he was a visiting fellow at Lincoln College in New Zealand. He was a fellow of the American Society of Agronomy and had served as president of its western branch, as well as president of the Western Society of Crop Science. He belonged to several other professional and scientific societies, including Sigma Xi. He is survived by his wife Jane and daughter Jennifer, both of Davis, and his son Richard of Palo Alto. Private services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Disease Association or Yolo Hospice. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis Funeral Chapel.
