Hi, According to Madelein Martin's book MORE EARLY SOUTHEAST TEXAS FAMILIES. Ruffin Turner's wife is listed as Sarah Conn, who by the way had a brother, Robert Conn, my g-g-g-grandfather. My g-g-grandmother, Penelope Conn,(g Robert Conn's daughter. Mrs. Martin's book said that Ruffin and Sarah Turner went to California in the gold rush. Her book said his grant was located on Thickety (Everitt Creek) in Jasper County and the south line of the survey is in the north edge of the town of Roganville and that sometime in 1838 Turner started building a large and comfortable house in the southwest corner of his survey near a cluster of springs known as Indian Springs. A historical building medalion was awarded in 1966 according to Mrs. Martin. Hope to hear from you again. Norma Newsom Pollard. Michael White wrote: > Here is my Jasper County TURNERs.
