Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AkB.2ACE/423 Message Board Post: We had the Ebenezer Homecoming yesterday and although we were able to get some great donations through the mail due to a great letter sent out we were poor on people! Matter of fact it was so bad that we almost decided to stop altogether!! Please dont let this happen, its such a wonderful tradition that was started many years ago, some of you might even remember your parents or grandparents taking you!! You would be amazed at the folks who come that can awnser your family history questions and tell you a wonderful story about them! Plus the food is GREAT!! We are looking for all decendants of this wonderful community to come and celebrate the great folks who founded it for us so many years ago! I know that in this day and age of computers and telephones that we forget how much fun meeting face to face with folks can be but this is a day that I think most folks will come away from with a great memory. We would love for next year all of the decendants of the founding families to be there. The Cemetary is right next to it and there are so many of the founders burried there that listing surnames that we want to come would take me forever! If you are a decendant or just want to come to a great old fashioned picknic on the grounds please contact me and I will have one of the board members send you a letter. It will be the Second Saturday in June next year and although thats a year away please write it down on your calender, so you can plan to come! We have singing and eating and most important lots of visiting. Please bring your kids or grandkids, they love running around and enjoying being outside playing in the beautiful woods that surround the serene little church/schoolhouse that holds so many memories that connects us all. Please dont let this tradition of family and community die, remember love, friendship and memories are what makes our lives great. If you find you cant come but have a great memory of coming in years past or can think of a funny story or tall tale that happened in these ole piney woods write it down and send it to us, we can share it with everyone there and it will make it seem like you were there with us enjoying the beautiful day if only in spirit.
