I am looking for descendants of the Boykin family from the Boykin Springs area in Angelina/Jasper county area, from about 1840 to present. It was a plantation at one time and looking for information from that era. Original settler was Sterling Boykin and 6 children. He came from Alabama and settled at the Springs in 1840. His oldest son is my gggrandfather, Francis W. Boykin m. Helen Catherine Gilchrist from Jasper/Newton Co. in 1846 or 1847 they had 10 daughters and 1 son. Their baby daughter was Dora born in 1871, 3 months after Francis died, THen DOra married John Anthony Gilchriest,(Sabe) & their children were-- Earl, Otis, Myrtle, Eula, Willa, Emerson, Tommy. They followed the Sawmill jobs all over southeast Texas since Sabe worked in the mills.
