Sara, I have a copy of the Jasper County Cemeteries, by Mildred Wright and will do look ups for people. It was compiled in 1977. Yolanda Pepper Miller
GenForum now has a page for the MINYARD family. Please spread the word to all researchers in other counties who might be interested in the MINYARD name. I will post there shortly. http://genforum.familytreemaker.com/minyard/ Fred Dews (gr-gr-grandson of Elizabeth "Mittie" MINYARD and Jacob Lemuel SEGREST of Tyler County, Texas)
Thanks for your gracious offer to do look-ups for us. I would appreciate knowing about any Deans or Youngbloods that you might run across. I know there are alot of them. In fact, one of our near relatives married a Minyard, just can't remember who right now. Does the name Sam Minyard mean anything to you? I think that was the one, but can't remember if he was married to a Dean or to a Youngblood. I've heard about that cemetery book and tried to find it with no luck. We have many folks buried in the Ebenezer and also the Brookeland Cemteries. Thanks for your troubles. Sara Youngblood
Dear Mr. Dews, Hi, I would be interested in any marriage record of either Aaron TURNER (b. c 1833, Jasper Co., TX) or Jane TURNER (b. c 1834, Jasper Co., TX). They were the two oldest children of Ruffin and Sarah (CONN) TURNER. Ruffin was an early land owner (land mostly in Jasper Co, but part was in Tyler Co). The rest of the TURNER family went to CA in the 1850s. It seems that Aaron and perhaps Jane remained in TX however. I don't know where either would have been buried. (I believe that all of their younger siblings died in CA.) Thanks for any assistance you may be able to provide. - Mike White Dayton, OH Brief Family Info: Ruffun/Ruffin/Rufus TURNER, (b. c 1808/9 NC, d. May 27, 1886 CA) m. Sarah M. CONN (b. To all researches in Jasper and Tyler Counties, Texas: In my research of SEGREST, ELLIS, MINYARD, FULLER, and DAY, I acquired excerpts from the following three resources: 1. "Marriage Records: Jasper County Texas, 1849: 1900" by Barbara Yancey Doré 2. "Jasper County, Texas Cemeteries," compiled by Mildred S. Wright 3. "Selected Cemeteries of Tyler County Texas," by Linda L. Bohl. The pages I copied pertain to my ancestors, but amongst them are plenty of others, including: BARROW, WILLIAMS, PRIMROSE, PULLEN, YEATES, WOMACK, BYERLY, DEAN, BOHLER, MAY, and many others [Jasper Cemeteries); and most of GRIMES cemetery, and all of SEIGERS/SEGREST Cemetery, both in Tyler County. I'd be happy to see if your ancestor is listed among my own. If you are without access to these volumes, I will do a look up for you next time I go to the library wherein they reside. All the best, Fred Dews

TXGenWebbers, First, I will apologize for you receiving more than one copy, if you belong to more than one of the lists I host. Since the 4th of December several people or "someone" has been subbing to all my county lists and within minutes or hours posting either a list of links or a "glowing" report about a new genealogy research service that has apparently just put a website at http://www.imagin.net/~tracers/ soliciting business for people needing Texas research done. This is a commercial site and the first visit I made there showed nothing free at all that had anything to do with Texas. I also noticed that these same postings were popping up on several lists that I belong in Texas that are not my own. Several days later I noted that a "very" small piece of a Texas census had been started and a "under construction" sign for that section. That has since been removed or, at least, I couldn't find it again. After receiving several private complaints, I decided to do some checking and received quite a SHOCK. The first "clue" was that Brenda Hay tracers@mailcity.com subbed then unsubbed from JASPER-D on December 24, 1998 4:01 AM and Jean Casteel genie1@mailcity.com subbed to JASPER-D on December 24, 1998 4:03 AM...... Just 2 minutes later!! The strange part was these postings, though grouped closely together, were under several different names that had never posted before. They turned out to be new subs. As we all know, these county lists are for posting information, queries, etc. as it specifically relates to each county. They are not for posting general links. Thinking that the poster might be a "newbie" I wrote privately to a couple asking their specific connection to the county. It really didn't take long to begin to put the pieces of this puzzle together but with the holidays I had delayed further investigation. What I discovered disturbed me greatly. I sent stern messages to each poster & to Becky Smesler Hay and after several exchanges of me asking Becky to explain the above subbing & unsubbing she told me she was "too busy for all this foolishness". Due to the continued postings about the "problem" I am presenting my findings on a webpage as it is FAR too complicated for email presentation. If all this can be explained away, I will send an apology to each and every person involved and to each Texas maillist. I have stated my opinion on the pages...... YOU DECIDE YOURS!! http://lest-we-forget.com/tracers/index.htm PS: If you feel that this is important enough for forwarding to any other lists to which you might belong or mentioning the URL, please feel free to do so. Hey ya'll, We are off to Louisiana for the weekend to visit my cousin so I thought I better send this off now because will be running around like a chicken with no head tomorrow trying to get my self together. I got this from a cousin and thought it was so special. I can't send it to you like I got it because it is a picture and some of you can't receive that format, especially the lists, Sue would kill em. So I just thought I would retype it to share: Bless My Computer Every night I lie in bed, this little prayer inside my head. God Bless all those I hold so dear, And keep them safe thru coming year; And, God, there's just one more thing I wish you would do If you don't mind me asking, to bless my 'puter too? Now I know that it's not normal to bless a small machine, But listen just a second, and I'll try to explain... You see, this little metal box holds more than odds and ends Inside those small components rest a hundred loving friends. Some, it's true, I've never seen, and most I've never met. We've never shaken hands or even hugged and yet... I know for sure they love me, by the kindnesses they give. And this little scrap of metal is how I get to where they live. By faith is how I know them, much the same as I know you. I share in life it brings them so if it's ok with you... Just take an extra minute from your duties up above... To bless this little hunk of steel that's filled with so much love. Amen. Here is hoping that each and every one of you have the happiest of New Years and may 1999 bring at least ONE answer to some of our most elusive ancestors, like what happened to my great grandmother, Nancy Lunsford Jordan? :-) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! Jean (et al), I think unless Image Tracers wishes to receive a bill for advertising that each of you that subbed to the Texas lists and immediately posted "the" link should unsub yourselves or restrict yourselves to legitimate county postings. As listowner of 9 lists that have been spammed with this link I will do what is necessary to prevent the honest list participants from this kind of list abuse. I am asking for help locating the descendants of George W. Toms,b. 1852 in Columbia county Arkansas. married Nancy Grosby in East Texas, probably Sabine county, about 1874. The family was on the Sabine county census in 1880 with one child, a son , William E.Toms b. 1876. George is mentioned as a witness on a land transaction in 1887 in Sabine county, but this is the last record of the family that I can find.I could not find a marriage record for George in Sabine county but was told that there was a fire in 1875 that may have destroyed it if it was in Sabine county. I will appreciate any info on this family and the family of Nancy Grosby that can be found.
I am seeking information on the family of DeWitt C. Toms.He was born in Columbia county Arkansas in 1862. Son of Edward H. Toms and Polly Twitty.Died in Bronson Texas,Sabine county in 1925. He married Adah Ford in Sabine county in 1882 and had five children. Maud Toms married Tom Roberts in Sabine county in 1906; Deward Toms b.1896, the only son, died in his teens in Tebo Texas. Jessie Toms b.1899,no more info; Flossie Toms b.1902;married O.J.McAlister in Sabine county in 1920; & Alma Toms b. 1903.Any information on any of this family will be greatly appreciated. I should add that DeWitt is buried at Bronson cemetery in Bronson Texas. I would really like to find out the families of the four daughters and who Jessie and Alma married. I have tried to find their license in Sabine and Shelby counties but to no avail. Thanks again for any help.

The children were Lee Edward Craig, James Willard Craig, Sr. , Alice Pauline Craig Nobles, Hazel Irene Craig, Lois Eleanor Craig McAlister, Doris Evelyn Craig La Rouche, Mary Sue Craig Moore, William Eugene Craig, Jr., Betty Faye Craig, and Joyce Annette Craig Cannon. Thanks for all of your help.
Do I sound like a commercial or what? Got this from another list. Yolanda The Lifetime Channel's "New Attitudes" program which was to include a segment about Online Genealogy with Cyndi Howells, Karen Isaacson, and Brian Leverich was not shown at its previously announced date of October 30th. This unannounced change in programming was the responsibility of the Lifetime Channel and clearly was disappointing to many online genealogists who watched or taped the show for naught. It would appear that the segment about Online Genealogy has been re-scheduled to this Friday, November 6th. Please remember that there is no guarantee from the Lifetime Channel that they will, in fact, follow their announced scheduling. See http://www.lifetimetv.com/onair/shows/na/friday.html For a program description. Please consult your local TV guide for information about what channel number Lifetime appears on in your area and also for air times for the "New Attitudes" program on November 6th. >>
Got this from another list, thought it may be interesting. Happy Halloween to Ya'll. Yolanda The Lifetime cable TV channel program "New Attitudes" will be featuring a segment on using the Internet for Genealogy this Friday. Cyndi (Howells) will be interviewed and RootsWeb will be featured. See http://www.lifetimetv.com/onair/shows/na/attractions_1026.html for a brief description of the show.
