Hey! Just as an afterthought, I was wondering, what ever happened to the famous "ROLL CALL" of last fall? I have only seen a few postings on this list and would like to see if there are any on here that may contain some of the same names I am researching. Perhaps I have some that you all are looking for as well...My previous email would be my roll call then, in that case! Linda
Hi folks, It has been a while since I posted anything for the names in my family I am looking for. So, below is my line of JACKSON's. If you have any information on any of these, please let me know. I am particularly interested in the names COLLINS, WOOD, & anything on WILLIAM K. JACKSON. The other names haven't been researched as much and so anything on them, too would be so appreciated. We are having a reunion soon and I would like to make this available to my family. Thanks so very much! Sincerely, Linda My family of Jackson's: Descendants of William K. Jackson 1 William K. John's mother was Rebecca Watts, the daughter of Thomas and Susan (Hutchins Pace Berry) Watts. She was born in Ouachita Parish, LA., 28 June 1824. She and Jeremiah Delaney were married in Texas June 24, 1842. Jeremiah was born 17 Feb. 1817 in LA or MS. I am descended from Rebecca's older brother, Hiram Watts. Thomas, their father, stated that he came to Texas in 1825, but the family didn't come until 1827. I have lots on the Watts family...so much that we finally had to start a newsletter a little over a year ago to get all the new information we had found. I'll be glad to help. There are a few possibilities. Before you except a final answer, make sure you have tracked the correct family. Remember the naming trend of that era, there can be multiple persons carrying the same name and or initials. After you have established that you are on the right trail. I personally would investigate the earliest location that is listed. The memory of their birth location in an earlier census, would most likely be their own. While in later census records the location is the memory of another (in this case a son's). Of course there is always the possibility that the census taker made a mistake when entering birth locations. The info that you have of locations can work in your favor, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas. This may actually be the migration route of your ancestor. Now I'm really confused. I spent the other day in the Texas State Library. In the 1860 census for Jasper Co I found L. S. Wood wife Thelia, son Joseph, they lived in Newton, Jasper co. L. S. and Thalia are listed as being born in North Carolina and Texas respectfully. Joseph shows up in the 1880 census for Jasper Co his parents are listed as being born in GA and TN, in the 1910 census for Kitsap Co WA, his parents are listed as both being born in Texas. Can anyone help clear up this problem? Laurie Wood Brandt
Greetings to you'all!! I have not posted the areas of interest in my research for a while, so here goes: My great grandfather is William K. Jackson, born (Possibly born abt. 1858?) and married to Harriet Amelia Wood, on May 9, 1878, in Jasper Texas. Someone sent me the census for 1880 and I believe it to be them. It showed Harriet at 17 yrs. and William at 22 years old. Thus, she may have been born about 1863. It also showed them with a one year old daughter, Sally V. I had a grand aunt named Vera, so maybe this is the same family. The same census also showed that William's parents and he himself were from Alabama. It showed that Harriet's mother was also from Alabama, and her father was from Georgia. Their children are: Tom Jackson Ethel (Jackson) Williams, married Estelle Williams and she worked for years for Missouri Pacific Railroad. Maude (Jackson) Frye, married James Frye Auba Jackson Vera (Jackson) And my grandfather, Ad Moses Jackson, b. January 7, 1888, in Colmesneil, TX. In the 1870 census for Tyler County, there was a Jackson family listed as: 1870 census and they are: Jon M. Jackson 50 M W b. Ala Martha Jackson 39 F W b. Ala Benjamin F. Jackson 06 M W b. Tex Martha W. Jackson 04 F W b. Tex Is anyone related to this family? If any of these names look familiar, please get in touch with me. I have many more names with the children, but not much on William and Harriet... Thanks, Linda
