    1. [TXJASPER] CLAYTON JACKSON
    2. J& L Kyle
    3. Hi Y'all, I have been putting a few bits & pieces together lately and it seems I must be so close to finding out WHO my great great grandparents were. Therefore, on the JACKSON side, I would like to post this and to ask you IF you have any JACKSON's in your lines, to please read through my notes here, and if you see anything that does look familiar, then to please get back with me, as I truly am thanking you all in advance, even for the help that you have already generously given! (Note: The 1870 census copy that the Jasper County Clerk sent to me shows the following: 408-409 Jackson, Clayton 37, Male, White, Farmer, Born in Alabama Wife - Sarah (Morgan) 40, Female, K.H. (Which I think may be Kitchen Help) Born in Georgia Their children are listed as: William, 13, Male, White Born in Alabama Elizabeth 8, Female, White, Born in Texas Gifford, 6, Male, White, Born in Texas Clayton 4, Male, White, Born in Texas Notice this couple, he was born in AL. and wife was born in GA. Also, notice son, William, 13, and depending on when they took the census and when his birthday may have occured, he was probably born somewhere between 1857 - 1858. Now, see this, my gr grandfather, William K. Jackson and my gr grandmother, Harriet Amelia Wood: Harriet Amelia Wood and William K. Jackson were married May 9, 1878 in Jasper, Texas. I have this from the Jasper County census in 1880: In the 1880 census of Jasper County, Texas : William Jackson WM22 b. Ala Paw Ala Maw Ala Farmer Harriett Jackson WF17 b. Tex Paw Ga Maw Ala Keeping house Sally V. Jackson WF01 b. Tex Paw Ala Maw Tex Daughter (This shows both of his parents born in ALABAMA, which, in the beginning of this email, shows a father born in Alabama and mother born in Georgia.) >HOWEVER< if William was born 1857 - 1858, this could be his father, but maybe not his mother, ubnless they just didn't marry for a while, back then, which I don't believe was the case. The marriage index, show him as Clinton Jackson instead of Clayton Jackson: Marriage Index: Texas, 1850-1900 Jackson, Clinton Spouse : Morgan, Sarah M. Marriage Date : May 10, 1860 County : Jasper Gender : Male Source : Library of Congress reference number (book) Reference Number : 976.4 A1 No. 189 ALSO, there is this: The 1880 Census shows: Jackson, Cleaton TX JASPER CO. E. D. 38 147 1880 Jackson, Joseph TX JASPER CO. E. D. 37 141 1880 Jackson, William TX JASPER CO. E. D. 37 138 1880 Jackson, William B. TX JASPER CO. E. D. 38 157 1880 Then, there is this: 1880 Jasper County census: dwelling #326, family #354 Jackson, Wm W M 22 AL AL AL (Woods) Harriett W F 17 TX GA AL Sally V. W F 1 TX AL TX dwelling #45, family #54 Jackson, Cleaton WM 50 AL NC GA Mariah WF 50 GA GA GA Elizabeth WF 17 TX AL GA Wm. WM 16 TX AL GA Cleaton WM 14 TX AL GA John WM 7 TX AL GA If this CLEATON, CLAYTON, or even CLINTON (IF IN FACT they are the same men at all) was 50 in 1880, then he was born in 1830. The one at the top, Clayton, was 37 in 1870, which would make him born about 1833, two much difference in age to be the same guys, even depending on when the census was taken and their birthdays. These aren't the same two sons, either, because the age is so much different. Therefore, I conclude this with something I am leaning towards, which is the possibility that CLAYTON JACKSON, COULD POSSIBLY be my WILLIAM K. JACKSON's father. Possibly. What I would like is for anyone who does in fact maybe have this Clayton in your records, to please get back with me, or if anything else here in the comparison rings a bell, please do contact me. I am very grateful for the help that you all have given me, thus far. It is very much appreciated! 2. Johnny & Lisa Bass
    3. I have copies of a record on a "George Ball" who appears on the muster rolls of Captain Steven's Company of Minute Men of the Frontier Battalion of Texas Rangers from 11/26/1873 to 03/28/1874. I have a couple of George Ball's listed within my ancestors here in Texas, but am unable to place this one. Can anyone help? Where was Capt. Steven's Co. of Minute Men of the Frontier Battalion organized? Has anyone heard of this outfit? Where were they stationed? Does anyone know who this George Ball is? My 4th gr-grandfather was George Ball (buried in Washington Co., Texas), however his date of birth does not coincide with the George Ball listed above. Some of his children were born, raised and married into families from Jasper Co. and Brazos Counties of Texas. If anyone can place this fellow, I would greatly appreciate it. If you are poss. related to him, I will gladly mail copies of this short, 3-pg. record to you. Thanks a bunch! Lisa Bass Burnet Co., Texas
