I am working on my senior theses research paper. My grandfather was born in Oklahoma in 1920 and in 1935 his family moved to California. They like most other dust bowl migrants found work in the fields in the central valley picking fruit and so forth. During the war my grandfather joined the navy. What I am looking for is other dust bowl migrants or their descendants who came to California from the dust bowl region of Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Missouri, and Kansas. I am interested in the work they did when they arrived in California, the work they did during the depression, and the work they did during the war. Those who respond to this message please email me directly. There is no need to bother the rest of the list with my request. If you know of anybody or you subscribe to other lists that might help me please respond, I need as much input as I can get for this survey. Thank You, Jason. > > > ==== OKROOTS Mailing List ==== >

    3. I should have made myself more clear in my request for a Mason on the Jasper list. I should have asked if there is a Mason in Jasper, TX that can look up something in his Lodge for me. I am looking for Jacob Hollingsworth Edwards. Jacob was raised in LA 1856. In 1860 Jacob moved his family to Jasper, TX where I am sure he affiliated with a Lodge in Jasper, TX. He lived in Jasper for 10 years then moved to Limestone county where he married his second wife, Mary L. Wynn. They then moved to Palo Pinto Co., TX where he became a charter memeber of the Gordon Lodge. Jacob died in 1886. If there is a Mason that can look for Jacob's membership I would be most thankful. 3. Howdy Jasper County researchers, Just wanted to let you know that I have also been to Leslie's site many times and found nothing wrong... in fact quite the opposite. Heck I even link to her Jasper County census transcription from http://www.rootsweb.com/~txjasper/census/index.htm. Now, to all..... If you have a problem with any postings or find questionable links.... how about notifying me first... let me check it out and if deemed necessary I will announce to the list?. Please keep in mind that some weird things can and do happen when surfing the net but if several people check something out and all is well then mark it up to the stars being misaligned for a few moments <g> and move along. 2. I did not keep the two listings, I decided that there was some kind of problem. I had six of my friends try the two and they also recieved one bad link and one very good Genealogy link. We just figured that there was a problem of some kind and wrote it off as a hic-up on the Server or some such. I do not want to cause an on going problem, I just have a habit of repeating exactly what I see. I did check back to the Genealogy link later and enjoyed it. I may have reacted a little quickly as she told me I just didn't know how to put the address in. Not to seem like I can't make a mistake, I usually will ask if there is a problem not just instantly tell someone They are to dumb to put in an address. That caused me to not want to see anything she had. I am usually leery of anyone that thinks they make no mistakes, and make that type of accusation. I as I said ask others to try the links before I told her to not send me anything in the future. I appreciate and will cooperate with any serious Genealogist. My wife and I work every day doing free lookups and go to cemeterys and sites for out of state people. If someone tells me I made a mistake, I look at it, I do not instantly tell them they are to dumb to follow instructions. Age or bad health is no excuse for horrible manners. It shows poor raiseing. Please accept my apology for any problem caused and I will refrain from any such thing in the future. I will respond to questions, requests for help I may can give, and Gen searches. I will not respond to insults. AJ Morris [email protected]

    3. I too have been to Lesley's website over the past two years and she has contributed much to different mailing lists I am on. She recently shared with one of the lists that her health is failing and her interest lies in doing as much family research as she can for her family and future generations to come. I have gone to her sites many many times for my own research and her site is very credible. I thank you Lesley for the hundreds of hours you have spent to make my research very easy. 3. Well, this thread had gone on long enough.... you seem to be the only one *insistant* that Lesley sent out an invitation to view a website that contains filth. Several people, and the list owner herself, went to the site, and enjoyed it thoroughly. I am on a number of genealogy mailing lists for Texas. Lesley has sent notification to the counties that he has information for on his lists. No one has ever complained. Lesley has obviously worked very hard to compile and share genealogical data. I save all my correspondences. This is the original letter that Lesley sent out. As you will see, there are two references (links) to his site, and one to his GEDCOM. None go to a web that contains filth. I would like to invite you all to visit my site which contains the following for your viewing. http://www.angelfire.com/ny/LesleysWorld/index.html 1850 Census for Jasper, Angelina, Collin, Cooke, Kaufman, Anderson, Ellis Counties for Texas Early Marriages and Marriage records, some death records, cemeteries, Some birth records all for Texas and also some varied info for Mississippi and South Carolina as well.
