Unfortunately, some years back the editor of the paper threw out the 1920 to 1925 papers. Thus, we do not have a record of the 1923 which you are needing for this obituary. I am so sorry about this unfortunate deed. Did want you to know I did look and why I can't find an obituary. If I can be of further help please let me know. Linda Primrose, Jasper Co. Webb is not in any of the census for Jasper Co., TX. Only his marriage to Frances S. Breed. There is however a Jesse WEBB, age 66 from SC with a family (no Allen)in 1850. In 1860 there is a William S. WEBB age 43 born in MS. William was one of the sons of Jesse living with two brothers and his mother and listed as head of household. There are no webbs in 1870 nor 1880. Could find none in the cemetery listings for Jasper Co. which was done in 1975 on the marked graves in the cemeteries. Sorry this is not helping much. If I can be of further help please let me know. Linda

Hi Again - About KYLE. My husband's father passed away when he was 6 years old. His mother remarried to a THOMAS KYLE of CORRIGAN, TEXAS. They later separated. Have been divorced for many, many years. He remarried and I do not remember the woman's name. Only met them once. I will call her (my mother in law) and ask about the KYLES, as I know nothing about them. My husband only remembers that Thomas had a son David, which passed away in California and also another son, maybe it was Jimmy. (Not sure.) These were Thomas Kyle's natural sons. I have wanted to research them, but the information to go on has been so scarce. Plus, I realize so many families intermarried in that area at one time. I thought maybe some of them would be found in my own branches somewhere, eventually. Will let you all know when I find out something. Have had many privately ask me about our KYLE's, a Scottish name. Linda

Suppose I should do some explaining about Clayton Jackson. Let me first say what I have found out as possibilities and then I guess you all can comment on that. Then will respond about the KYLE name. >From the 1880 census of Jasper County, it says that William K. Jackson, my GR grandfather, was born in Alabama. It indicates that he and also BOTH parents were. He is shown with my great grandmother, Harriet Amelia (Wood) Jackson. I have seen the census and the marriage data about Clayton Jackson, marrying Sarah Morgan. Am not really sure that she is Clayton's first wife. Sarah Morgan was born in Georgia, from what the census indicates. The 1870 census shows that William was born in Alabama, and so was Clayton, while the other siblings born in Texas. Also, William is a 13 year old boy. He is older than when Sarah and Clayton got married! Marriage Index: Texas, 1850-1900 Jackson, Clinton Spouse : Morgan, Sarah M. Marriage Date : May 10, 1860 County : Jasper Gender : Male Source : Library of Congress reference number (book) Reference Number : 976.4 A1 No. 189 Marriage Index: Texas, 1850-1900 ALSO: (The 1870 Jasper County Census) Jackson, Clayton 37, Male, White, Farmer, Born in Alabama Wife - Sarah (Morgan) 40, Female, K.H. Born in Georgia Their children are listed as: William, 13, Male, White Born in Alabama (She indicated that this William could be William K. Jackson) Elizabeth 8, Female, White, Born in Texas Gifford, 6, Male, White, Born in Texas Clayton 4, Male, White, Born in Texas (I am trying to find out EVERY thing so that I can decided my next step. Have written to Alabama and am waiting to hear from them. Last summer, a researcher contacted me. She told me that she has a Clayton Jackson that came to Texas. He has a sister, Emmaline Frances Jackson, and a brother, William Jackson. Their father was William Jackson and their mother was Polly ? They were from Alabama. The parents, THINK they were from somewhere besides Alabama. All three of their children were born in Alabama. Clayton came to Texas, as did Emmaline. Emmaline married Joseph Addison Barber. Something happened. They do not know exactly what, (Unless it was Clayton's FIRST wife. We think he was married before he came to Texas, and that maybe she died.) Clayton Jackson has been written up in the Jasper County Census as Clinton, Cleton, and Clayton. There is a marriage in Alabama for a Cleton Jackson who married a Sarah Keith. I have sent off for that record and am waiting to hear back. This other researcher also says that she thinks he may have been referred to as "Cleat". Marriage Index: Alabama, 1800-1900 Jackson, Cleton Spouse : Keith, Sarah A. Marriage date : Nov 24, 1853 County : Butler Gender : Male Source : County Court Records Microfilm Number : 1290249 - 1290256 In the marriage book of Butler County, Alabama there is this: Butler County AL - Marriages 1853 - 1858 Cleton JACKSON Sarah A. KEITH 24 Nov 1853 Thus, William < K> Jackson..???? (William K. was born about 1858) In the census material that this lady was sharing with me from Chamber's County, Texas, Emmaline is seen there in her house with a little William about 2 years old. Possibly his mother died, she said and he was living with his Aunt Emmaline until Clayton could re-establish himself. Emmaline didn't have any children named William. This woman's husband is a direct descendant of Emmaline Frances Jackson. She says the Clayton that I am referring to here, is Emmaline's brother. We just haven't been able to connect the two, but from what she says, Clayton Jackson, of Jasper County, shown in the 1870 census with a 13 year old William, is her Emmaline's brother. If any of you have anything that bears up to this, I would like to hear from you. I will comment on Kyle in another/the next email as this is too long, now... Linda

Hi, The Jasper County Archives probably has the microfilm, but the reader does not make prints. I have a transcribed version if it would help to have the information on it. Let me know. I would be glad to search any records (census, marriage, etc. that I have).
