    1. Re: [TXJASPER] Re: 1910 Census Kirbyville?
    2. Yes I have been researching the Welch family. My family of Welch's came to Texas and then back across the Sabine to what was then Calcaseiu Parish and is now part of Vernon Parish. The one that went to Texas was James Welch - He had several children - 2 born in Texas - His oldest son, William Floyd is buried in Evans, LA. His oldest son was my grand father and his name was William Henry, his son, William "Bill" Nolen was my father. They are both buried in Good Hope Cemetery, Anacoco, LA. The area of Texas James lived in was around Jasper - It was rumored in the family that he or his father was in the Conf. Army during the Civil War and he was stationed in Galveston for a period - I have never found any documentation of this. The rest of his family stopped in Oakdale, LA and that branch is still present there as is James's in Anacoco, Vernon Parish, LA. Alma Welch Cryer

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AkB.2ACE/338 Message Board Post: Dear Debra: I finally have the time to get back on my wife's family's genealogy. I appreciate the information you sent in the past. We are still perplexed about whether or not there is a Calvin Whitmire. My wife's mother used the name a great deal and Fay & I ponder whether Elias Whitmire had a middle name or first name of Calvin. Everything from Elias on down to Fay fits with one exception. William W. Whitmire(Elias' son) had a daughter named Nancy Whitmire born 9/10/1881. She married John Albert Lester in October 11, 1899. John was born on 1/16/1877 in La. Nancy died on 2/8/1931 and is buried in Morse cemetery. She was born near Buna. John died 9/22/1967 and is also buried in Morse cemetry. This information was taken from the census and from Fay's mother. Nancy and John were Fay's grandparents. No one with whom I have communicated included Nancy as Elias' daughter. In event you may want the info, Nancy and John had children named Emory Lester, Evie Amelia Lester(Fay's mother who married Walter John Burrell), James L. Lester, John W. Lester, Olivia Lester, Crockett Lester and Rebecca Ann Lester. Evie and Walter Burrell had Hazel Naomi, Elaine, W.J., Iva Maurine and my wife, Faynell. All these children are living. Have you found any info on Elias Whitmire' s ancestors or on Letty Crockett's ancestors? I sure would like to have it if you do. I appreciate your good research on these families. Thank you. Respectfully, Claude D. Davis, 12445 Fairfax Ridge Place, Austin, Texas 78738. Fax (512) 263-7963 and home phone is (512) 263-7368.
