    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Debney Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AkB.2ACE/393 Message Board Post: The above named is my great uncle who emigrated to the USA on board the SS Philadelphia that left Southampton on 12th January 1907 arriving in New York on 20th January 1907. He was meeting his brother Alfred William Debney who resided in Jasper, Texas, no other detail than that. From my research it would appear that William was shot and killed by "mistake" in Jasper County some time in 1924. I was wondering if any other researcher has any information on this incident and whether he was married and left a family. Ronnie Sewell Balloch, Scotland.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/AkB.2ACE/243.275.1.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Thanks for the info, very valuable. By the way, the 'Olive Harrel', male, listed in the census with James is actually Olive Harrell, the mother of Nancy, a female. Do you know anything about the Morgan's stay in Decatur County, Georgia, or where they came from before Decatur? Thanks. There are multiple families that have followed that path, some with a drop into Florida, so I'm hoping to find the NC or Virginia source of the movements, maybe getting clues along the way.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/AkB.2ACE/243.275.1.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: The only connection we have between your James and Nancy and mine is that Nancy was born in 1834 and that they lived in Jasper Co., TX. because I did not know Nancy's maiden name. I will assume that we are talking about the same two people. My James Morgan was b. Jan. 22, 1828 and died Aug 8, 1888. He was the son of Daniel Morgan and Mary (maiden name unknown). Mary is said to have been a full blood native American, possibly Creek. James is buried in the Withers Cemetery in Jasper Co., TX (south of Jasper). Land Patent: Oct. 3, 1860, 160 acres in Jasper Co., TX Pt. #511, vol. 30, File 299. Daniel and Mary are buried in Jasper Co., south of Jasper and near the small community of Roganville on private land. James was the brother of my great grandmother, Dorcus Morgan who married Elias M.C. Lee in Decatur Ga. I know absolutely nothing about the Harrell family since I have only just learned of Nancy's maiden name from you. Thank you for that information. In the Jasper County, TX Census for 1860 thee was a James Morgan 32, farmer b. NC. Wife, Nancy 26, b. FL , with daughter Mary 4, b. TX, son Joseph 2, b. TX, daughter Susan, 5 mo. b. TX and a "domestic" 62, male named Olive Harrel, born in NC. That is a connection right there, the "Harrel". I have a lot more on the Morgan family if you need any of it. The Harrell line is just too far out on the tree limb for me to persue it. Hope this has helped you. Jo Ann Lee Gartig

I have John Morgan born about 1798, in N.C., son of Reuben Morgan, Sr. and Dorcus Newton Morgan. This John was married to Hanna Kelley on March 1, 1827 in Decatur Co., GA Hannah was daughter of Malachi Kelley and Sarah Singletary. Hannah was born about 1810 in S.C. and died between 1850 and 1857 in Georgia or TX. This John's brother was Duncan Morgan, born June 8, 1806 in N.C. and died May 26, 1881. This Duncan was married to Eliza Kelley on Dec. 10, 1837 or 38. This was his second wife. Daniel Morgan, brother of the previously listed John and Duncan, was my great great grandfather. If these are the Morgan-Kelly connections which you are interested in, I do have more on the children of these two couples which I will share. Jo Ann Lee Gartig

Seems like some of the Deharts moved to Oregon maybe in the 1920's. I will dig up my notebook and try to answer with more info.
