    1. [TXJASPER] genealogy seminar
    2. relppek
    3. << If some more people do not register by Thursday or Friday, the WRITING AND PUBLISHING YOUR FAMILY HISTORY Seminar scheduled for Angelina College on 3/1/03 will be canceled for lack of interest. There is still time to register for it or the one on GENEALOGY AND TECHNOLOGY scheduled for 3/08/03 which also may be canceled due to lack of interested. If this seemingly lack of interest continues and is reflected in registration for the summer conference, July 24-26, 2003, and considering that the college budget has been cut by 7%, it is very likely that no other genealogy events will be sponsored by AC after that date. This would be a big blow to genealogy programs in East Texas and the Southwest because Angelina College is the only public college in this area sponsoring programs of this type. Capacity for any genealogy event is 125 people, but we must have at least six people to make a class. These events are important to the genealogy community regardless of who teaches them. In the meantime, Mr. Johnson and I have two very fine all-day seminars that can be booked through the college for a group will to pay travel expenses and the regular adjunct instructor contact hour fee. Just as long as we can talk about and promote Angelina College. Two reasonably priced seminars for your group within a reasonable travel distance of Lufkin, Texas. I am a regular member of this list. I am also an adjunct instructor in genealogy at Angelina College in Lufkin, Texas. This is what I do in addition to working on mine and my husband's families. Please pass this information along to anyone whom you think might be interested. The bulk mail notice was mailed out last week. Perhaps a little late, but then the college calendar/time-table and the time-table for genealogy events does not always match up. Registration form and contact information are further down in the message. You can call in that you would like to come and pay when you get there if we have enough people to make the class.
