I recommend the use of the JCHC all the time and they are great. They don't charge too much mostly postage and a donation. Here is the phone number, 409-384-6441. Their hours are irradic, but I do know that on Tuesdays, Jeanette Pittman is usually there by 10am. Tell her I said hi! Good luck. Oct 1870 - (d/o Allen A. Wood(s), b.abt 1842 in IN and Susan E or "Sudie" ???) married an UNKNOWN Jones. I am looking for Dolly and UNKNOWN Jones' descendents in hopes of learning the given name for Mr. Jones. They all lived primarily in or near Kirbyville, Jasper County, Texas. Some of the relatives are located in Tyler and Newton counties as well. Dolly and ??? Jones had at least the following children: Sue (S. or L.), b. Feb 1891, Finis or Finnous P, b. Oct 1892, Allen Aris or "A. A.", b. Nov 1893, and James or Jim H (Howard), b. Oct 1894. These final two boys' births may be a month off either way. Dolly remarried around 1902 or so to a George W Davis and they had a daughter, "Bessie" A. who is listed as 6 yrs. old in the 1910 U S Census. Allen Aris Jones later married Lucy Myrtle Williams, also of Jasper County, TX. Their oldest son, Richard David was born in 1919 and had several sisters and brothers. He now lives in DeQuincy, LA. Allen and Lucy are buried in Kirbyville, TX where they resided for many years. Probably buried in Bean or City of Kirbyville cemetery. Any help would be appreciated in order that the ancestry might be traced further back and some of the family might be united. Trying to locate Lucy's family as well... I am in need of obtaining census records for 1850 - 1900. I did locate my uncle, Richard David Jones' father, Allen Aris Jones as a 16 year old boy in the 1910 census when his mother, Dolly Wood(s) Jones, 39, remarried a George W. Davis. They were in Pct 2, 12/12. In the 1900 census, Allen is 6 and he and his mother and siblings live with his grandparents, the Allen A Wood's. Allen has two brothers, Finnous P., 8, and James H., 4. Dolly is a widowin 1900.. And there is the problem. No one in the family know the given name of Dolly(ie)'s husband, Mr ??? Jones. Some believe that Allen Aris Jones was actually born in or near Spurger, Tyler, TX. He married Lucy Myrtle Williams. Both of these folks lived and are buried in Kirbyville, possibly, Bean Cemetery. I do not know if these Jones' are kin to any of the Jones' you elude to. I will be happy to converse with you about possible connects and who might help with lookups... at my expense, of course. My e-mail address: [email protected] My wife and I live in Flower Mound, TX and from time to time come down to the Jasper area on our way to Ragley, Beauregard Parish LA. Any of those telephone numbers would be appreciated so I can obtain some of their materials. Any assistance from you or someone who might know my Jones' would be wonderful. My uncle, Richard still has relatives living in the area. One sister, Nancy Jones Williams, b. Sep, 21, 1919 is deceased. She was married to Ocie David Williams... I cannot locate him - spelling of given name may be in error. Best regards and may God bless you and yours, Mike Harrison Sr

John and Rebecca had a son - Homer born about 1862 according to the 1880 Jasper Census. More than likely with the name Homer M - he was named after both of John Smith's brothers - Homer and Miles. Rebecca married John Smith in October, 1853. And Homer M. their son. Any of these names ring a bell? And was there any info on John Smith - born about 1825, Rebecca's husband from Homer Cemetery? 2. Barbara Ellison
    3. I was wondering if anyone has a readable copy of the original 1835 census of Jasper? My family is on there, but the transcriptions I have found show different things... If anyone knows of an image online that I can get to without a paid subscription, please let me know...Or of anyone has a paper copy, maybe they would be willing to scan and send to my email? It is [email protected] and I am a Goins/Padilla descendant...Both families are on that census.. Hoping to hear from someone... Thank you, Barbara
