    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Fowler, Brisco, Sanders, Ball, Gage Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HlB.2ACI/2390.1.1 Message Board Post: I was looking for Joseph Fowler, in 1860, 1870, 1880. He was a poor man, likely didn't own land. Just curious what area in Jack County he lived in. He was part of the Landman/Gage Indian depredation in 1860, which I think was in the Los(t) Creek area, or somewhere near the reservoir outside of Jacksboro? They usually lived around the Gage and Gunter families (Calvin Gage, Wiley Gunter). Do you know of anyone who would do look-ups for marriage, death, land records, etc? I know there is a marriage record for Joseph and Elizabeth Brisco, but I don't have a copy. I am seeking as much on her as possible. The records are very light where she is concerned. Let me know if you can help on any counts! Thanks

I have Elijah and Catherine Eaton as her parents. Mary Anna was my GGG GM. And after Daniel Fowler died in 1854, she married Calvin Gage, in 1855. This is the brick wall for the Sanders line, what we know of Elijah & Catherine. Like you, I can't find anything relating to them in TN. Where do we go from here??? I guess that makes us cousins of some sort, Barbara! About 18X removed, but related nonetheless. I get to here since this Daniel Fowler (Mary Anna's husband) is the father of Joseph Fowler, who's the father of Daniel Monroe Fowler, who's the father of Gladys Fowler Clark, who's the mother of Jennie Lou Clark Mathis, who was my mother. Did you get all that? I've found it pretty fun, too, tracing my roots. But it's frustrating often times as well. Keep in touch, and make sure you let me know if you get more info on the Sanders!

As for a "map" of the precincts of 1880, the precincts were decided by the County Commissioner's court and then sometimes published in the local newspaper. The boundaries of the precinct were specific for their time and are easy to figure out if surnames are known and then matched with the land records of that particular time period.

Yes, they came out west with the Gages, Gunters, Hutchins, etc., from Greene County, AR, but didn't know the Sanders and Brisco families were also part of that group of "family & friends" my grandmother told me about. Mary Anna Sanders was married to Daniel Fowler, and was part of the Indian killing there in Jack County Nov. 26, 1860. Daniel had already died in Fannin County, but son Joseph was there at the time. I cannot find anything on either the Brisco or Sanders families. Hopefully someone will have something more for us one day. I will keep in mind your interest in the Sanders if I ever stumble onto something!
