    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HlB.2ACI/2397 Message Board Post: J.P. Hackley, passed away at his home Saturday, 18 January 1919 of pneumonia. Funeral held in the Methodist church under the management of the Knights Templar and the Masons of which organizations he had long been an active and honored member. Dr. Allen, pastor of the Methodist church, of which Mr. Hackley was a member, preached the funeral sermon. In the death of Mr. Hackley Jacksboro loses a citizen who will long be missed by all. He will be missed by the businessmen as he was always at the head of every worthy enterprise that was for the best interest and progress of the town. He will be missed in educational circles as he is at all times was one of the most active supporters of the public school, serving as trustee for many years. He was always a liberal contributor to church and works of benevolence. All of these obligations consumed much time for a man who had the extensive business relations that Mr. Hackley held, he being manager of the Jacksboro Mill and Elevator Company and the Jacksboro Light Plant, and a director of the First National Bank. The Jacksboro Mill and Elevator plant had been under the management of Mr. Hackley from the time it was built in 1898 to the time of his death, and had by him been developed into one of the finest mills of its capacity in Texas. He understood thoroughly his business and! labored incessantly to make of it a success and in this he was amply rewarded. He was a man of most pleasant demeanor and won for himself personal friends of all with whom he had business transactions as well as those in social and educational circles. Mr. Hackley was born in Missouri, and came with his parents to Parker County in 1879. He was married to Miss Mary E. Kutch in Parker County. Mrs. Hackley and her sons and daughters who survive him have great sympathy of friends in Jacksboro and Jack County, but also Weatherford and Graham. I am not kin

I have preened the files of censuses. The only way I have connected them is through Ancestry's "One World Tree" where others have developed a tree and you can link to it. It all pointed to those two, Elijah & Catherine Eaton. As for confirming or verifying, nada. About don't think it can be done. But perhaps an expert, experienced genealogist could do it. I can't, that's a sure thing! What was your GG GF's name again, John? Was it John Riley Sanders, born in 1830? That's what I found they had as the date, born in TN. Their last two kids were born in AR it says. I will continue the quest for more Sanders and Brisco information. In the meantime, cuz, keep me posted!

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HlB.2ACI/2390.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Dorman, I'm amazed at all the information you obtain. How do you have access to find all these records for folks? Are you a West Texas historian, or just specific counties you get involved in? What's the real deal? I'm curious how you can get the data so quickly!!! By way of example, what other info may be obtained from a land record? I am having so much trouble getting info on E Brisco. How would you go about trying to get more? I know her birth and death dates, where she's buried, who she was married to (Joe F, of course!), etc. I believe she was born in TX in 1851, but I can't verify that. I'm very disappointed I can't find anything else. I would like to confirm her birth in TX. I think I found somewhere that her parents were from AL. Thanks for the record on Joe & Elizabeth. Hope to hear from you on the other stuff!

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Marriage Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/HlB.2ACI/2390.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Joseph Fowler to Elizabeth Brisco, marriage license issued on 14 December 1869. Marriage performed on 14 December 1869 by Jack County Judge John Brown. Source: Jack County Marriage records, Volume 1, page 108 -- Land records in Jack County contain lots of things, not just land holdings. Lookups for land records is one of the most time consuming parts of research in counties. Marriage records are fairly easy from 1856-1890. Death records are sketchy at best until the 1930s. The obituaries in the Jacksboro Gazette give some help, but one must remember that obituaries in the Jacksboro Gazette were considered to be "classified ads" until the 1950s.
