Key of Jacksboro, Texas. The wedding was at the home of the bride’s father, J.W. Cornelius, in west Hamlin, Rev. C.E. Jameson, pastor of the Methodist church officiating. Mrs. Key is the youngest daughter of J.W. Cornelius and has grown to beautiful and accomplished womanhood in this county and the last few years held a position in the primary department of the Hamlin school. The groom is a young man of sterling worth. He had recently served in the army, holding the rank of lieutenant, but he is by profession, a teacher. He is to be congratulated on winning for his life’s partner the heart and hand of the young woman who now hears his name. Mr. Key will hold a position in the faculty of the High school. — Hamlin Herald.

Lamb and Miss Adelaide Hinton were married at the Baptist church in Flatonia 25 June 1919, Rev. W.H. Petty performing the ceremony. Ushers were Vastine Gosch, Richard Wheeler, Estill Bludworth, Edward Arnon. The happy couple will visit Buffalo Springs to see the groom’s parents. They will make their home in Texarkana, Texas, where Mr. Lamb is employed. The bride is the daughter of Mr. And Mrs. R.E. Hinson and is one of our popular young ladies. She is a graduate of the Valparaiso University School of Expression, and has taught expression in the public school here for the past two years. Mr. Lamb comes to us with the highest recommendations and is a principal of the Texarkana school. The Argus extends congratulations. Mr. Lamb is well known in Jacksboro and Joplin country.

Bailey have received citation for bravery awarded to their son, Mulkey Bailey, and also a French Croix de Guerre with Palm. Awarded to their son, Abe M. Bailey, late private, Company C., 141st Regiment, U.S. Infantry. “Private Abe M. Bailey, No. 1,482,027, Co., C, 141, Reg. Inf. A remarkably brave soldier. During the operations of October 8, 1918, near St. Etienne, he advanced over a terrain swept by a violent bombardment. By his courage, he contributed largely towards neutralizing enemy machine gun fire and destroying their emplacements. Killed during the action. At General Headquarters, April 1, 1919. Mullens who passed away at her home Sunday on Belknap street. Funeral service held at the family home conducted by Dr. John R. Allen, pastor of the Methodist church. Only a few years ago Mrs. Mullens came to Jacksboro the beautiful young bride of one of Jacksboro’s favored sons, and she quickly made for herself a place among the people here. She was a lady of culture as well as pleasing in personal appearance. She leaves her husband and parents, Dr. and Mrs. Turner of Slidell and her brother, Battle Turner of Dallas, all of whom were with her at the time of her death, also many other relatives were here for the funeral. Among those attending the funeral were Miss Sue Baxter, Mr. And Mrs. C.W. Watson of Slidell, Mrs. Lon Munsey of Fort Worth, Mrs. H.F. Hawkins and daughter, Mrs. Booth, Miss Vesta Watson of Chico, Mrs. G.A. Fields of Antelope.

Meeting called to order by W.C. Kutch, life honorary president. Minutes read by Thomas F. Horton, permanent secretary. T.J. Atkinson was elected vice president in place of G.M. Bowie, former vice president, new deceased. The chair appointed a committee of three: T.J. Atkinson, Ida Huckabay, J.R. Wood. The committee decided that any person, man or woman, who resided in Jack or any adjoining county for as long as 40 years ago or longer, whether a resident or not at Jack or any adjoining county at the present time, or any person, descendant by blood or marriage within the third degree of either or any of said residents, and of good moral character would be eligible for membership in this organization. Said committee also decided that the time of next meeting be fixed at same date as Jacksboro’s annual Chautauqua. Following is a list of those who registered at the time. B.S. The little fellow was taken sick Friday and died Saturday. Dr. Hughes from Bryson and Dr. Wade from Jacksboro both said the cause of death was unknown, although symptoms of poison were indicated.
