    3. Posted on: Jack Co. Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Jack/11213 Surname: OGLE ------------------------- I am looking for any information concerning the OGLE family in Jack County in the late 1800's and early 1900's. I understand that one of the family was a sheriff or possibly a federal marshal killed in the line of duty. Specifically I would like any information about HARRY OGLE born in 1903 or any of his family. I believe he was the 13th child in the family. I also believe Possum Kingdom Lake covered their family farm. Please email any responses to [email protected]

    3. Posted on: Jack Co. Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Jack/11207 Surname: ------------------------- Jake, Thank you for the information. It is really a thrill to open up an e-mail and find so much information. Mother Warden in the Oakwood Cemetery is Susana, Thomas F.Warden's wife. Mattie Warden is their daughter. Her Twin sister was Fannie Warden. Did the Memorial Christian Church have their own cemetery? Seems like that might have been a logical place for Thomas to have been buried. The information on the 9th Kentucky Cavalry is of interest. The General Index Cards in the National Archives show a T.F. Warden in Co. A, Clark's Regiment of the Missouri Infantry and Co. B, of the 3rd Missouri Infantry. Can you tell me the name of the Jacksboro newspaper back in the late 1800's? I sure do appreciate your help. Thanks Gordon Heebner

    1. [TXJACK] Levi Cox
    2. Priscilla Magouirk
    3. Posted on: Jack Co. Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Jack/11206 Surname: Cox ------------------------- According to a family history passed down through the Cox family, Levi Cox was born in North Carolina and migrated to Springfield, Missouri, after the deaths of his parents. He and Samuel Walter Cox were the brothers of Mary Sullivan Cox's first husband (name unknown) and the father of Nathan S. Cox. Mary married Samuel Cox after the death of her first husband. Samuel and his brother Levi were the Nathan's uncles, and then Samuel became his step-father. Levi Cox's wife's name was Liza (last name unknown). Their children were Albert and Delia. It appears that Nathan, his brother Joseph S. Cox and their step-brother, Levi all left Missouri in November of 1876 for Texas. Nathan and Joseph had two wagons each and some lead horses. Levi Cox had one wagon and one lead horse. They were joined by another wagon train in Arkansas that was made up of a number of other Cox family members, eventually settling in Jack County, Texas. I have no other information on Levi, but have quite a bit on the line descending from Nathan and his son Joseph S.

    3. Posted on: Jack Co. Tx Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Jack/11200 Surname: ------------------------- In response to your query in Jack County, Texas the following was found along with the questions that were presented. Rumor has it that Thomas was a lay minister for the Church of Christ and performed many marriages in Jack County. Response: He married several couples for sure, he is list as T.F Warden Elder of the Christian Church on August 10, 1880, Thomas F. Warden Elder of the Christian Church on January 10, 1881, T.F. Warden Elder of the Christian Church August 9, 1880, Thomas F. Warden, MG in a marriage done on May 15, 1880,T.F Warden OM in a marriage done 07/19/1885, and Thomas F. Warden in a marriage on 03/14/1886. Several from 1890 -1900 with the last one listed in my books as 12 October 1897. In the book "The History of Jack County Texas page 75-76", has his wife Mrs. Tom Warden on the first roll of the Church of Christ, Jacksboro, Texas 1881-1894. He is not listed. On page 85-87 of the same book has two lay preachers Tom Warden and D.B. Mizell were instrumental in the organization of the "Memorial Christian Church", and includes his wife in this information also. They met in the old Masonic Hall Building before the church was built. Was preaching his profession? Response: >From the book "Ninety-Four Years in Jack County 1854-1948 p. 307", has T.F. Warden and Mack Cooper drilling water wells in Jack County with S.O Callaham supplying the windmills for these wells. Where in the County did this family reside? Response: Not Sure but guessing Jacksboro area. I would check city directory or tax information along with federal population census. When and where did Thomas and Susana die? Response: There is two Wardens listed in my cemeteries records they are the following: Warden, Mother Born Jan 6, 1844 died Dec 20, 1900 buried sect 4 Oakwood Cemetery. Mattie Warden born Jan 06, 1880 died April 4, 1903 Sect 4 Oakwood Cemetery. There is a good chance this is part of that family. I would check probate records and newspapers for family information. What happened to the children? Response: Page 244 94 years has Miss Eva Warden assisting Mr. E.M Davidson Sr., teach younger pupils in the old Horton Hotel in 1893-94. Page 164 History of Jack County has a Miss Fannie Warden teaching school at the Pleasant Hill School 1898-1899 her salary was $30.00 a month, for a five month term. Did not see any marriages in my Jack County Marriage books for the kids on a fast run through. I would check federal population census and records on teachers in Texas during time period you are researching. Additional Information: Military information on p. 426 of the 94 years in Jack county Texas has under the Ex-Confederates Meet for Permanent Organization Jacksboro, Texas, and May 23, 1891 Pursuant to the call of the Ex-Confederate Committee, a meeting of Ex-Confederates convened in the district court room at 2:00 P.M. May 23, 1891. Listed in this enrollment was 9th Ky. Cav., T.F. Warden. I would get his war records for more information on him and his family. War records could have a lot of information on his family most likely from KY.
