James V Griffis, wife Jessie Mytle Smith, children Marvin L, Claude D (his wife Iris O Bench, their children Bettie Piranio and Claudine Longoria), Loyd, Anna Belle Tidwell, and Jessie Boyd. Was there also a Helen that was ran over by a train and a Jack in this family. I can't find them in the census and maybe another girl? You will find William H Griffith and Elizabeth in the 1850 census, Lincoln Co., TN. with children Mary, John, Sarah, A Jackson, Elisha Thomas, and Geo W. You will find William H Griffith and Elizabeth in the 1860 census McNairy Co., TN with children Sarah J, John W, Andrew J, Elisha T, George W, Elizabeth, Francis, Travice H, and Susan B. After 1860 William Griffith disappear and the family name changes to Griffis. You will find Elizabeth with sons JW Griffis, AJ, Thomas, GW, Sarah, Elizabeth, Francis, Travis, Susan in the 1870 census, Lincoln Co., TN. You will find Elizabeth with sons AJ, GW and E Thomas in the 1880 census, Lincoln Co., TN and JW's family, Oda, Candise, Eliza and John R. You will find JW and family again in 1900 census in Hunt Co., TX, also Oda's family. I think I have found Elizabeth Griffis at 80 years old with her Sara daughter in the 1900 census Giles Co., TN. It records her having 12 children and 5 living. Unfortunately, I cannot make out her daughters last name. AJ and family are in the 1900 census of Lincoln Co., TN. Like you, I would love to know more about William H. and Elizabeth but so far this is all I have. I will ask my family if they know anything about the children of James and Jesse.
