Ellen -- the only connection I have would be with Jesse Crabb and not directly. A Katherine Crabb married a relative of mine, Samuel Johnson Crownrich. Katherine was born on 31-Mar-1907 in Texas. (I don't know where) died on 6-Jul-1984 in Pasadena, L.A.County, CA The only connection is that Sam's step-great-grandmother moved to Sulphur Springs with several sons and a daughter. If Sam visited them in Sulphur Springs, he could have met Katherine Crabb. So -- if you can't find Jesse, you might find Katherine somewhere and they might be siblings.
