Hi Sharon, My grandmothers family came from Decatur County Tennessee. They were the Coats'. My Great-grandfather was Willie Garvin Coats. He moved to Hunt County Texas after 1901. His wife, my Great-grandmother, Margaret A. "Maggie" (Marion) died on Dec 25, 1900 in Decatur and is buried in the Decaturville City Cemetery. He had four children by Margaret and one step-son William Frederick Alston from her 1st marriage to Charles Almon Alston. They came to Hunt County with him. William Frederick Alston returned back to Decatur and married Ida Wallace. I don't know why they chose Hunt County, but would like to know. Something was happening in Hunt County between 1895 & 1900 which drew a lot of families there. What?? I guess time and research will tell the story. Please keep in touch.
