Can anyone tell me if there is graves for the following 2 individuals in or near Hunt co Tx Thomas “Tom” William and Nancy A V Couch Mitchiner and if so the dates and name of the cemetery. Debra LaMel For all interested: Thomas was born 4-2-1828 in Screven Co GA d 9-30-1909 Greenville Hunt co TX Tom was born the second son of a planter in Screven Co., Georgia across the Savannah River from South Carolina. His mother was Charlotte Oliver. When he was about 5 years old his father moved the family across the state to Randolph Co., Georgia. His mother died there in 1837 when he was about 9 leaving his father with eight children. His father remarried the next year and started a second family and had eleven more children. Tom left Georgia in 1849 around the age of 21 with two younger brothers and traveled overland to California with a group of miners seeking their fortune in gold. He was back in Georgia by 1859 when he married with apparently little means. His wife was about eleven years his junior. By 1862 he was living in Dudleyville, Alabama with his wife near her father where he labored farming. Around the age of 34 he begin serving in Co. K, 47th Alabama Infantry as a private during the Civil War and was wounded at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863 and later wounded near Petersburg, Virginia. He surrendered and was paroled at Appomattox, Virginia under General Lee in April 1865. He returned to Alabama where his three daughters were born. He moved his family by 1870 to Hunt County, Texas, where his Will is recorded at Greenville. His oldest sister, Mary W., and her husband, David Rumph, with six of their children moved there from Georgia shortly before Tom came with his wife and three daughters from Alabama. In 1880 a half brother, Robert Hayes Mitchiner, twenty-two years his junior moved there with his family from Georgia. He owned forty two and one half acres that he grew cotton on just outside of Greenville. He was 52 years old when his son was born in 1880. Living in his home besides his wife in the 1900 Hunt Co, Texas census and his 19 year old son are two granddaughters by his oldest daughters marriage and his youngest daughter and her three children. He applied in Hunt Co., for a Confederate pension. His wife died in 1901 at the age of 62 when he was 73. He was almost 80 when his son married. He died at the age of 81. The graves of Tom and Nancy have not been located. This information and all that follows on the lineage of Thomas William Mitchiner was supplied by Chaplain Thomas W. Mitchiner, USA Ret., his great-grandson. Dexter/Lawson is buried in Johnston Co OK. Mollie is buried in Forest Green Cemetery in Hunt Co TX under the name of Mollie Dunkin. Can someone send me a copy of these 3 obits?
