Any info on this man DOB abt 1854, DOD abt 1920 in Hunt Co would be much appreciated. I find him as a 6 year old in Hunt County in the 1860 census but then he vanishes. He is the father of Fred Andrew and several others. His wife, Mary A (unknown maiden name) was born 1852, died 11-23-1910. Any info on her would be appreciated. I believe both are buried in the Weiland cemetary but not sure. Many thanks, Bill Wilson
I'm in possession of an old water color painting that used to belong to my Grandmother, Elizabeth Mae (nee Hames) Blackwell. Elizabeth was born on Dec. 25, 1897. The painting has a date of 11-13-'09 (so, I'm assuming 1909). It is a water color done on paper (and framed) that is done in rust colors of a sailing ship (multiple sails) with the sun setting in the background. In front of the ship is a small (row boat?) boat with two people in it. There is no signature other than what appears to be the initials UCH. At one time I thought the U was two L's as the U has a tail on it like a lower case u, that doesn't completely connect. At this point though, I feel pretty confident that it is in fact a U. It isn't anyone related to my Grandmother as she always told us that it was salvaged from a house fire, of a wealthy family in her city (My Grandmother's family was not wealthy). As she lived in Wolfe City originally, I am assuming that is where the house fire was. My Grandmother would have been 11 (almost 12) at the time the painting was painted in 1909, but I don't know when the fire was. Anyone see any other local artists from that time period that would have the initials UCH? I wonder since the fire was a wealthy family's home, if it would have made local newspapers (if there were papers back then)? Any ideas? I'm just curious to know the history.
