Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.hunt/3520.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: JanMarie, Thank you for your response. I am a little confused, I had asked about Shady Grove. Has this former community changed it's name to Honey Grove? I have some info that indicates a great uncle was married in "Shady Grove", Hunt Co., TX. Since I could not find this community, I wonder if it was another county, even though he lived most of adult life in Greenville, TX. Thank you again, Sandy

    2. You probably know that there is a Honey Grove that is a small town between Bonham and Paris in, I believe Fannin county, which is probably about 30-40 miles from Commerce. There may have been a small community in Hunt county name Honey Grove, i don't know about that. I do know that Shady Grove church still stands and it was moved from an area a couple of miles south west of Commerce. My uncle worked a farm right across from where the old school house was in the 1950's and early 1960's. The church is a congregationalist Methodist. 3. No wonder you are getting confused! You are getting information about two separate places. There most certainly was a Shady Grove in Hunt County. I'm not sure if it was ever considered a town or just a community, but I have been there many times. I grew up in Scatterbranch community, between Commerce and Greenville. Honey Grove is a completely different place. It is east of Bonham. Shady Grove was just south of where highway 50 and Interstate 30 meet. Hope this helps. Sue Lynn

Martin and Hardin are the sons of a John Hart but not my John T. Hart. Also puzzling: in the 1850 Hunt Co. census there are four Hart men listed as being from Kentucky: John T b. 1786, Silas b. 1793, Charles b. 1795, and Josiah b. 1795. Since all the Hart families seem to use the names John, Josiah, Silas, David and Thomas over and over it is hard to find who my John is related to! Any help appreciated.

We are missing many Kittrells, particularly those that descend from female lines which are lost to history on first marriage and a few that still bear the name Kittrell. We are also gathering as much photos, obituaries, and all other available e-information and scans on our Kittrell family as is possible. While doing so we are linking up with many families who had a Kittrell marriage somewhere in some branch. Please write and send us any Kittrell document involving any Kittrell descendant whatsoever and it will be added to our collection. Ask a question and we will, after considering privacy rights and making adequate and sufficient protections as to what is included in our answer, aid you as best we can. The area of the future Gates County of North Carolina is the origin in the USA of the largest Kittrell family and Bertie County, NC was the home of one or more of the next generation, and later they moved on through Craven, Pitt, Granville, Carteret, Davidson and other NC counties as land grew too scarce for the number of male heads of household to feel that they could prosper. The name has many spellings through the centuries in public record including as examples only Kittrell, Kittrel, Kitrel, Kitrell, Kitterlin, Kitterill, Kitterell, Kittrelle,..., leterally dozens or literally dozens depending how well you spell such things. We will assist anyone on Kittrell matters (for free of course, free other than the wealth we get from both of us sharing some of what we know). And we will be most pleased to find more missing links broken from our tree due to distance and change of generations to those who barely know a whit of their Kittrell kin.
