    3. I am looking for obituraries on Barney and Calaway Crabb who both died in Hunt County. Barney died in 1912 and Calaway in 1929. I have one for Mary McBride Crabb, wife of Barney but not for Calaways wife, Laura, who died in 1940. Since these Crabb's lived in Lone Oak and are buried in the Lone Oak Cemetery, they might have been in a local paper that no longer exists. Any help would be appreciated.

I have pieced together enough information about her for me to be confident in the following information. She was born 10 Nov 1858 in Alabama, probably Pike Co. (became Bullock Co. in 1866), to William R and Luzan (Peteet?) Skinner. Her father was a Physician born and educated in Darlington, South Carolina. Her mother was born in Georgia. He moved to Alabama and set up practice in Perote sometime between 1850 and 1855. They stayed there until sometime between 1871 and 1876 when they moved to Texas (the Wieland area of Hunt Co.). She married Columbus F. Steifer, 17 Dec 1876 in Hunt Co. There is an entry in Texas Marriages for L P Skinner and C F Stephens which was transcribed incorrectly. They are listed in the 1880 Census living in the same area as her parents. They had 3 children. The first 2 died very young, the third was my great-grandmother. Shortly after this, something happens to her husband, I have no information on him after 1880, other than birth of their 3rd child in March of 1881. She married Jefferson Davis Cross, I believe on 28 Aug 1884. They are listed in the 1900 Census in Hunt Co. under Jeff and Latie Crass. They had 5 children. Their youngest died at 7 days old. She died 26 Dec 1904 and is buried in Weiland Cemetery next to her youngest child. Parents of Lotie P Skinner. William R. Skinner, b. 1828 in SC, d. 21 Dec 1882, buried in Hart Cemetery, Hunt Co., Texas Luzan Peteet Skinner, b. 1837 in GA, d. 22 Jan 1907, buried in Hart Cemetery, Hunt Co., Texas Children of Lotie P Skinner. Infant Daughter Steifer, b. 15 Oct 1877, d. 5 Dec 1877, buried in Hart Cemetery, Hunt Co., Texas Oscar Steifer, b. 12 Oct 1879, d. 22 Jul 1881, buried in Hart Cemetery, Hunt Co., Texas Jesse J Steifer, b. 1 Mar 1881, d. 5 Jan 1964, buried in Weiland Cemetery, Hunt Co., Texas, my great-grandmother married Henry Wright Hart Minnie Lee Cross, b. 10 Jul 1887, d. 7 Feb 1980 married Tom McCorkle Annie Cross, b. Survivors included two sisters, Mrs Beulah McCorkle of Greenville, Mrs Minnie McCorkle of Dallas and a brother, Mathew Cross of Big Spring.
