I am glad to do it. But, I am glad that I know that SOMEONE is wanting this information. It will help me to remember that somebody needs my efforts. For THAT I am grateful. ;-) Keep checking that link... I will head out there again as soon as it is feasible. It is a fairly large cemetery, I think... but I don't know HOW large, I wasn't able to get in to look around, with the few exceptions I posted there. I hope you find your people there, if not now, then soon. www.cemeteries-of-tx.com will be posting what I have as I get it. Please make a mental note though.. I won't be able to do anything more until the county gets in there, it is so overgrown that it is dangerous, and I have really tried... It is the hardest thing I have ever undertaken and I know that it is important so I will not give up until no other options exist. Keep the faith! :-) Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: robbiethree Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.texas.counties.hunt/2002.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I was there this past weekend, it is very bad shape. I called Hunt County about it and they have agreed to clean it up... if there is not some problem with the county BEING in there. It was cleaned up, but only up to the cemetery gates, last year, it was thought... but you cannot walk into the cemetery itself, without a machete. I got about 15 markers transcribed while I was there but it is not safe in there. What I got, which is not much, is at www.cemeteries-of-tx.com, scroll down to East Texas and you will see Hunt County. I will continue to work on it after the county has been in there. As it is now, you cannot walk a step without a machete in hand, and you cannot see the markers, it is so overgrown. It is a terrible shame. In this photo, Mary E (Jinks) Walker is the second woman on the left - behind the 3 seated children. I believe the woman with the shawl and blanket on her lap is a Gardner. Mary lived in Hunt County about 2 miles southeast of the town of Wolfe City (in the country. I do not recognize any other person in the photo, so I suspect it to be a community photo. In the 1920 census I found the following family names in the same area as Mary: Gardner Gaskill Glenn Goodwin Hutcheson Owens Painter Stephens Swinson Turner Walter Wood In the 1930 census I found the following family names: Gardner Glenn Goodwin Owens Quann Stephens Turner Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
