Marcia, why would she an adult need that information? Unless she is mentally or physical handicapped? If she was born in USA...and has a B/C that should be all the proof needed...and if your father received SS benefits they should have those records...and also he would have had to have had an amended? B/C stating that he was born in USA, so contact Austin TX...I'm sorry but can't think of the correct term for the B/C...my mom was born in 1901 and had to get one and used her mother's family Bible to prove when/where she was born. How old is your sister? Who took care of her after the parents died? maybe if you were made her legal guardian, then you could apply for it like that, you do need to call an attorney. Are you sure your dad didn't give up his citizenship when he moved to Canada? maybe check with their government too. Good luck, you will need it dealing with our government....:( Janice Been through the SSD game and it is a living night mare...prayers you can get the information you need. ----- Original Message ----- From: "marcia collins" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, May 25, 2003 9:21 PM Subject: Re: [TXHUNT-L] request for help in proof of citizenship > We do have the DC, along with my BC, ect. Did your father have a soc. sec. #, if so his application should indicate where he was born. The Soc. Sec. Admn is a pain...have had experience with them when our son was disabled. We had to write our Congressman for help. Right after our congressman became involved, we recd notice he would be receiving benefits and we recd a ck not long after that. Do you have all the census for your father since his birth, of course the 1890 would have been nice. Peggy
What type of Voter Registration records are there for Hunt Co. prior to 1930?

We do have the DC, along with my BC, ect. Donna, Would you have a family Bible with information in it? My grandad did not have a birth certificate either and got his SS (around 1960) by using his mother's family Bible. He was born in Ala. in the late 1800s. I now have this Bible. Do you have an old family Bible with birth dates and family names in it? I never thought about checking for delayed BC's for my ancestors. Would I go through the VS office in Austin? I also wonder if they do these for other states as well. Also, would anyone have any information on the 1860 Hunt Co. Census? I really need to locate it if its out there any where. Do you have a copy of his death certificate? That should have his date and place of birth. If they don't accept that, then they ARE idiots! haha!!! I would think that the DC is a legal document and should be acceptable. But you know they will make it as difficult as they possibly can because they think they can. We know that in order to do so, he had to have afidavits from people who knew him, in order to PROVE he was a citizen of the US, as Texas didn't have birth certificates when he was born . I have done so much research, yet I cannot find documents the Social Sec. Admin will accept to prove Daddy WAS a citizen, and my sister who needs to apply for her Social Security has been DENIED as she cannot be provena citizen due to Daddy's age and lack of paperwork. I would appreciate your help both with idea's and perhaps papers from the Hunt Co. Courthouse. Please send me the fee you would ask for this. Check with the Texas Vital Statistics folks. Many times people were issued Delayed Birth Certificates for Social Security purposes. These certificates were signed by parents or siblings to verify the age and birth location. Also, give these folks any spelling variation you can think of. Hello, No Daddy never did serve in the Military. He was a Miller most of his life. I understand that had a bit to do with it, needing the mills to keep running. This really is unbelievable. I have located Daddy on the 1900 census, and we have obtained a certified copy of same, yet at this time, that is NOT proof positive of his citizenship. I cannot help but feel the Social Security person we are dealing with is a dolt!. I have taken pages of my genology, she would not even look at it. a few years ago, my sister and her husband of 40 years went on an aniversary cruise, Lou could not get a passport due to her Canadian Birth certif. They had to change plans and go on a trip that allowed you to enter with birth cert., and were friendly to Canada and the U.S. My sister HAS a Social Security Card, issued to her when she was 15 years old. OR rather, the number, the card is long gone. The Caveat is, WITHOUT the original card for proof of citizenship, she cannot be ISSUED A NEW OR REPLACEMENT card. Have you ever heard of such an assinine thing? Thank you for you offer, we will gladly pay your gas and time.
Ms. Collins, Did he ever serve in the U.S. Military? I'm thinking maybe any type of service record.........I would be willing to help out any way I can and would do so without a fee. I will print your email and use the information you gave. Would that be okay with you? I hate it that your sister has been denied her SS benefits due to a little red tape. What forms of proof are they requiring? Dear Marcia, Have you checked with the County Courthouse or the Town Hall where your father was born? The state of Texas does NOT have my mothers birth certificate (born 1920) but the Town Hall did have it, and that is what solved her Social Security application problems.
