Subject: {not a subscriber} Roll Call - DILLARDS Date: Wed, 17 Nov 1999 08:36:22 -0800 (PST) From: "The Schwends" <morgan2@tds.net> To: <TXHOOD-L@rootsweb.com> The surnames that I am researching in Hood County are: DILLARD/DILLIARD Lunsford Long DILLIARD - Methodist minister and Farmer, b-1793 in Williamson, TN. Died 1872 in Granbury, Hood Co, TX. Buried in Acton Cemetery. Married to Eleanor (maiden name ?) that may have died and been buried in Hood or Cherokee Co, TX. aft 1860. Their children included Joel L., Thomas J. , Margaret Elizabeth, Minerva/Manerva J., James C. , Nicholas L. and my direct ancestor, Felix Greely DILLARD. The family lived in Cherokee Co, TX in 1849 after moving from Rutherford Co, TN. He witnessed a land sale in Freestone Co. in 1861 and also owned land in Hood Co, TX about the time of his death in 1872. His son, Felix DILLARD b. 1838 in AL/d-1901 Hearne, Robertson Co, TX, married a Harriett WILLIAMS in Brazos Co, TX abt 1864. He was a farmer with his father in Cherokee Co and in Brazos Co, TX. He was in the CSA, serving as PVT under Comm. Off. Capt A. M. Maddux, Organized as the FREESTONE BOYS from Freestone Co, TX, 12th Regt. Cavalry, Col. W. H. Parsons, Commdg. He enlisted on 24 Aug 1861 at the age of 23. The Navarro, Ellis, Freestone and Limestone counties composed the 19th Brig. He served in the Texas Cavalry, 4 Texas Dragoons. In 1866, Felix apparently lived in Leon County, TX. Children were Carswell Long, Horace Greely (my ancestor), Palley and Jeff DILLARD (twins given out to raise to relatives in Lubbock after wife, Harriett died at their birth in 1875. Felix could have lived in Hood Co. during the time of his father's illness in 1870-1872. Does any one else have info on this family of DILLIARD/DILLARDS?
