PLEASE reply to bcaddell@hcnews.com Forwarded by TxHood-L List moderator Subject: {not a subscriber} Hood County, Texas Query Date: Fri, 7 May 1999 09:56:40 -0700 (PDT) From: bcaddell@hcnews.com (Bill Caddell) The Hood County Query and Family Data Page has a new entry: - ---------------------------------------------------- I recently found out that my grandfather, Jasper Pinkney GREER (b. 15 Nov 1874, Ringold, LA) had a restaurant and meat market in Granbury, Hood Co., TX during the 1890s - 1905. I have been living in Hood County for 23 years and never knew he had ever been here. My 82 yr old mother said she knew nothing about the details. The business was located on the west side of the courhouse square next (now know as the "Downtown Store" next to a livery repair and saloons. On the opposite side of the square was the Granbury Opera House still in business today. While checking local records during the period I found no reference to Jasper bur I did note the following GREER from tax and other lists years: George GREER 1875 C. E. F. GREER 1877, 1881, 1884-5 J. H. GREER 1879 Eva, Viola GREER 1879-1919 S. D. GREER 1887-1895 Barney GREER 1887-1900 T. J. GREER 1890 J. T. GREER 1890 Lee GREER 1898-1914 B. F. GREER 1899-1901 T. P. GREER 1899-1901 Mr. GREER 1903-1940 L, Josephine GREER 1903-1940 H. G. GREER 1904-1912, 1916-1919, 1928-1939 W. T. GREER 1911-1912 D. E. V. GREER 1911-1949 Jell GREER 1911-1949 R. P. GREER 1928-1939 I suspect that Jasper was related to one or more of these GREERs, being single at the time going out West to make his fortune. -------------------- Bill CADDELL Bill Caddell <bcaddell@hcnews.com> Granbury, TX USA - Friday, May 07, 1999 at 09:56:40 (PDT) - ---------------------------------------------------- -- Frank Saffarrans Home Page Editor Hood County Genealogical Society http://www.hcnews.com/~ancestor opa ['opa] masculine noun, colloquial German: grandpa
