Greetings to the Hood County, TX List: I recently found out that my grandfather, Jasper Pinkney GREER (b. 15 Nov 1874, Ringold, LA) had a restaurant and meat market in Granbury, Hood Co., TX during the 1890s - 1905. I have been living in Hood County for 23 years and never knew he had ever been here. My 82 yr old mother said she knew nothing about the details. The business was located on the west side of the courhouse square next (now know as the "Downtown Store" next to a livery repair and saloons. While checking local records during the period I found no reference to Jasper bur I did note the following GREER from tax and other lists years: George GREER 1875 C. E. F. GREER 1877, 1881, 1884-5 J. H. GREER 1879 Eva, Viola GREER 1879-1919 S. D. GREER 1887-1895 Barney GREER 1887-1900 T. J. GREER 1890 J. T. GREER 1890 Lee GREER 1898-1914 B. F. GREER 1899-1901 T. P. GREER 1899-1901 Mr. GREER 1903-1940 L, Josephine GREER 1903-1940 H. G. GREER 1904-1912, 1916-1919, 1928-1939 W. T. GREER 1911-1912 D. E. V. GREER 1911-1949 Jell GREER 1911-1949 R. P. GREER 1928-1939 I suspect that Jasper was related to one or more of these GREERs, being single at the time going out West to make his fortune. He later got married and settled in Miller County, AR. -------------------- Bill CADDELL Granbury, TX
