The Hood County Genealogical Society's military web pages have been on-line for one year as of December 18, 1999. We have had over 2,800 visitors to our military web pages in the past year. During this year we have documented 1,317 military veterans of Hood County as follows: War of 1812: 1 Republic of Texas: 5 U.S.-Mexican War: 11 Civil War: 600 Spanish-American War: 5 World War I: 161 World War II: 417 Korean War: 69 Vietnam War: 25 Women Veterans: 6 Canadian Veterans: 2 Obituaries: 84 (includes 20 additional veterans of non-war eras) Biographies: 85 We are very proud that 66 of these biographies are of our Civil War veterans.
