Good News. The Hood County Genealogical Society just received a stack, about three feet high, of old Hood County records. They were found stored in an old house. They were probably stored there (His mother's house at that time) by John Gilmartin in the early 1970s when the courthouse was being renovated. John was one of the individuals, along with Mary Kate Durham and others, who were responsible for salvaging the records now stored in the Granbury Depot by the Hood County Genealogical Society. When the records were found Mary Kate Durham was phoned and she picked them up and took them to the Granbury Depot Archive. Many of the records are now just loose pages and it will be quite a task to organize and index them.
